The name is Johnny; I was born in Canada and am of Dutch heritage but I travel all over the place so much that it would be impossible to say I live in any one country anymore.
I am an actor and filmmaker (though I did do some professional modeling in the 90's). I started in the business very young and have been doing it for a good 19 years (I started in 1988), so it’s not just a mere hobby to me, it’s actually what I do for a living and yes, I do make a good living from it.
I have never and will never do pornography. I have no problem doing nude scenes or simulated sex scenes as an actor and filmmaker but I very strictly draw the line at pornography.
Although I started in the late 80's and early 90's doing comedy, I've since directed horror and various avante-garde film but right now I'm branching out and trying some different genres as I do not want to be typecast strictly as a 'horror director'.
In 2004 I created, own and operate my own production company called Terfer Productions because I refuse to be censored and told what I can and cannot release by distributors or studio heads; so when I say I’m “independentâ€, I really mean it. I film, produce, write, direct, package and distribute all my own material through my company and wouldn’t have it any other way. In July of 2007 the company will also be branching off into publishing and distributing various literature and books.
I very strongly believe in a professional work ethic. Be on time, don't complain, treat others (and yourself) with respect and do your job to the best of your ability. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this and I will never put up with nor tolerate egos in any way, shape or form.
I seperate my filmmaking from my acting as I have no problem whatsoever in doing either independent or mainstream acting work though I do not, nor will I ever go "searching" for mainstream acting work. If they come to me, fine. If they don't, that's fine too. I choose my roles based upon whether or not I like that particular character. My own personal films are different and pretty non-mainstream and something I chose to keep to more under the radar.
I left small town Canada when I was 16 years old and have been on my own ever since. I started from scratch to where I’m at today; make no apologies and have no regrets.
On a personal level; musically, I’m more inclined to throw on some classic heavy metal (particularly the New Wave of British Heavy Metal). As for films, all I ever tend to watch is underground, cult, b-movies, horror, exploitation and 70’s grindhouse which of course all tend to cross over into my own films.
I used to have a very generic “filmmaker biography†up here in the beginning but have since removed it for this more personal one. I like to be approachable so I got rid of the older 'bio'.
I have a blog up there on the page that is public so you’re more than welcome to read it. It’s more or less updates, news and information on my upcoming projects more than anything else. I don’t have a real personal blog because my personal life is, well…..personal.
Feel free to send me a friend request. The only people I do not add are spamming cam whores trying to get me to go to their websites and people who are racist, homophobic or sexist, which to me are three uneducated traits in a person that I will tolerate in any way, shape or form.
