Nick van der Schoot (1987) Nick started to play the piano when he was 7 years old. He kept saying he wanted to make swinging music, but didn’t know it was jazz music. At the age of 15 he had his first trio. He won several prices with his music and played on many jazz festivals. He had followed masterclasses from well known musicians like, Anton Goudsmit, Ab Baars, Paul van Kemenade and many others. He made in 2005 a cd called ''The Fifth Grade'' when he was in graduation year of high school with his class mate Thijs Meeuwsen (drums) and Bob Willemstein (bas). On the cd are jazz Standards and own writings too, like Blues For Anna for his little niece. At the age of 18 he had a Quartet with well known musicians like Jules de Vlam, Pieter Bast and Bert Boeren. Also in the rap/ DJ scene he has managed to make name. He recorded with Dj Cuijff several hits with Screaming Hammond organs en smooth Fenders Rhodes. Now he had a his own Quartet with Wiro Mahieu, Pieter Bast and Bert Boeren. Nick has monthly his own night in a jazz club in Den Bosch, where he gives workshops, sessions and concerts. Now he attends the School of music in Tilburg where he studies piano, improvised. His teachers where / are Carlo de Wijs, Jeroen van Vliet, Harmen Fraanje, Rob van Bavel, Rembrandt Freirichs, Randal Corsen, Peter Beets & Jasper van 't Hof.
