James Calandrella grew up south of Boston(Marshfield Ma), started playing saxophone at age 9. Started taking lessons at age 15, and at 16 was already playing professionally. After winning numerous awards through high school, James took his talents to Berklee College of Music. where he stayed for 3 years until he injured his throat, and was forced to stop playing. A year and a half later, James started on the come back trail. His skills started coming back very slowly, and inconsistently. But, after over 10 years of hard work and frustration......having to make numerous physical adjustments just to be able to play.....he is finally coming to the point where he can play almost anytime he wants. Throughout those difficult years, James played with such names as Tommy Flanagan, Bill Watrous, Rick Margitza, and Bob Mintzer.
James is currently trying to make up for lost time, and writing for two separate recordings......one straight ahead jazz, and one electric. A website is on the way as well.
He is also a locally sponsored skateboarder (riding for the incredibly talented Technical team) and an auto enthusiast. For more on this, check James' personal MySpace page. Check back here often, as there will be alot of music and video updates in the very near future.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
