Nikos Kapralos

It all started at Aigio a small city in Greece, when I was nine years old. Growing up, I was surrounded by the colours and places that music painted in my mind and my soul.Music had created all these magical feelings inside me that I wasn’t able to explain in words. I then understood that the only way I could express this, was through song, through playing and becoming one with music, with my own expression, my own sound.As a result my grandfather bought me my first nylon string guitar, and I started taking lessons from a local teacher; Panos Pieratos. He introduced me to different genres of music and builded up my confidence, by teaching me my first chords and my first songs.Soon after I discovered bands like, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple ,Iron Maiden and later bands like Dream Theatre. When I first heard these guys I knew what I wanted to be ,I knew what I wanted to Play!!!I bought my first electric guitar and I joined a few local bands in Greece and performed around the country.At 16 my adventure with music led me to Australia, where I began taking formal classical guitar lessons with an exceptional teacher Don Kiritsopoulos.Soon after, I was offered a place at Melbourne University to undertake a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical guitar .During this time I played several gigs, as solo and session musician and at various ensembles, around Australia.I also have had the privilege to take lessons and participate in master classes with top musicians such as Allan Zavod (ex Frank Zappa, George Benson) Karin Schaupp, Ken Murray, Anthony Field, Daniel McKay, Doug De Vries.Since 2006, I have the honour to study with the renowned Australian guitarist Brett Garsed, at the Melbourne Music Academy.From the start of my adventure into the world of music right up to now, I have enjoyed every moment of it .Along the way I have met people who helped me and inspired me each on their own unique way and I am so grateful for that.I am currently teaching guitar at various schools and academies around Melbourne, including: Music World ,and the Melbourne Music Academy.
