BOET : BOPEIOI ETAIPOI

“BOPEIOI ETAIPOI ” is really the words “Vorei Etairi” read in Latin from Greek letters. It means as much as “Northern Partners”. This group from Northern Greece has developed their very own sound in the past 5 years, experimenting with the sounds of their Balkan environment from the point of view of a jazz background, with a touch (or more) of spice and lots of humor.Staging their performances with more than just a little theatricality with the help of actor Dimitris Sakatzis, they perform a dynamic mixture of jazzy Balkan pieces, almost all adaptations of existing traditional melodies. Improvisation is one of the main elements of their performance and it spans jazz and traditional modes, while their singer Elsa Mouratidou beautifully copes with a great variety of styles and sounds.
