Thaissa Luna, aka Eletricat, is Brazilian but has been living in Scotland since she was 12 years old. She has been dancing all her life. In Brazil dance is part of your everyday! You feel it and enjoy it! She has been teaching dance, choreographing bands, choreographing her own dance group, giving workshops, performing as a freestyle solo dancer and also with bands & DJs in UK and abroad for the past 12 years. Her dance group also perform regularly all around UK & abroad! As a freestyle dancer Thaissa has travelled to various countries around the world including Madeira Island, Germany, Russia, France, Italy, Brazil and was recently filmed by BBC TV London at her own club night - Carnaval Night. In Jan 2006 Eletricat started co-ordinating the movement part of a project with Perth & Kinross council with primary school kids which has been very successful. Her style, 'Eletricat Dance', as developed by herself, is a mix of many dance styles, but mainly a fusion of Brazilian dances with other Afro-Latin dances in a contemporary, round, sensual and powerfull electric style. Movements are free and all about energy & relaxing the body. Classes & workshops are not only fun but a complete workout. Some of her dance background include Samba de Roda, Pagode & Samba no Pe, Sambareggae, Capoeira, Orixa, Maracatu, Frevo, Caboclinho, Lambada, Contemporary (a year of Contemporary with Brazilian/New York Dancer Marcelo Pereira), Jazz, Street, Salsa, ballet & Tribal Belly-dance. Classes also blend in Yoga stretches to promote the complete electrifying feeling!
Eletricat has been DJing since 1998 and running her own Brazilian club night since 2000 - Carnaval Night is Scotland's biggest Traditional Brazilian Club www.carnavalnight.com. Eletricat also provides Dance Shows, Capoeira Shows and Samba Dancers in full Carnival costumes for Festivals & Events!! Eletricat works closely with Rhythm Wave Percussion Band. The 45min Choreographed Show (as performed at Glastonbury including 2008) brings together Carnival Samba Dance Performance, Eletricat frestyle dance performance & Capoeiristas, while the band play an amazing groovy mix of Rap, Sambareggae & middle eastern beats!
