A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author

My Interests

I like making photographs. If you'd like to view any of them, click here: http://www.fotolibra.com/?user_id=7346 I have spent some time presenting on radio for Hospital Radio Basingstoke, great fun and a fine bunch of people who can be visited using this link: http://www.hrbasingstoke.co.uk/

Music:

Music is very important to me. Scattered somewhere around the house are hundreds of CDs. My iPod is now too small, and I need a new hard-disk for the PC because I still have more music to load onto iTunes. Oh, woe is me! My two all-time favourite tracks are: Dock of the Bay -- Otis Redding, & Stairway to Heaven -- Led Zeppelin... But the sax section in Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street has to be one of the most sensuous massages your ears will ever enjoy. Click the player above to hear what I mean.

Movies:

Love 'em! For a while, I was the movie critic on the independent radio station for Basingstoke and North Hampshire: Kestrel FM -- link to them here: http://www.kestrelfm.com/ And before that I wrote reviews in a freelance capacity for Flicks. My all-time favourite has to be Casablanca.

I think any genre of film can be great -- it just depends on what the director has done with the writer's original vision.
But, to continue the list...

THE USUAL SUSPECTS, L.A. CONFIDENTIAL, SEVEN (three Kevin Spacey movies! A Twilight Zone moment!)BODY HEAT, DANCES WITH WOLVES, THE GREEN MILE, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, THE PLAYER, THE TRAIN, SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS -- the list goes on...

Television:

Without doubt, the best TV drama of late has been WEST WING and SEX AND THE CITY. Pure Genius -- make mine a pint!

Books:

Oh, where do I begin... I've recently re-discovered Leon Uris, in particular EXODUS and TRINITY. If you're looking for an epic story, read either of them, and be prepared to be taken on a remarkable journey into the formation of Israel (EXODUS) and through a history of Ireland (TRINITY).

Tantric Life

For anybody uncertain what tantric sex is, I'm told it's just like regular sex, but without the When-Harry-Met-Sally bit at the end. (If you're after a serious definition, follow this link: http://www...

GBH of the middle-ear

To a huge number of people, December 6th is only significant because it falls between December 5th and December 7th and means that Christmas is less than three weeks away. To me, it's now quite a sign...
