Mini biography
Motion picture Director/Writer and Novelist Greg William Stechman is a hard-working and resilient artist, whose influences include Pier Pasolini's "Salo", Wes Anderson's "Rushmore," as well as novelists such as David Sedaris and Stephen King, is a native Sacramentan and resides in Northern California. He is the owner Burning Grounds Motion Entertainment with longtime friend and collaborator Daniel Turturici. Stechman graduated from CSU Sacramento in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Organizational Communication. During his years in college, Stechman worked extensively in multimedia, assisting New York Times Bestselling author Steve (MEG, The Loch) Alten in producing promotional films for his novels and developing his feature films. Stechman produced the short film "trans-pose" in 2003, and directed music videos for Sacramento bands Shortie ("Something Else") and Bonzai Empire ("Freworks") in 2004. During his senior year at CSU Sacramento State, Stechman wrote and directed the independent feature "Michael and Claire: A Portrait Of Love and Dreams" on a $10,000 budget. After college, Stechman spent days working for digital media company Digital Insight and spent nights writing/preparing screenplays. During this time, he wrote the horror film "Threading Over Dark" which was based upon a series of true crimes in Sacramento, CA during 1999. In 2005, after a year of fundraising and casting, the film went before the cameras in Northern California and Nevada. Retitled "This Hollow Sacrament," the film will be released on DVD through TLA Distribution/Unearthed Films November 27, 2007. Stechman is good friends and a collaborator of Author Michael ("Atmosphere") Laimo - the two formed a business relationship in January 2006, leading Stechman to adapt four of Laimo's novel to the screen. He plans on directing the first of these in Spring of 2008. Stechman wrapped his second feature "Anxiety" (based upon friend Michael Laimo's short story), a psychological thriller, in April of 2007. The film is currently in Post Production and will premiere in Sacramento and New York in January 2008. Greg Stechman lives in Sacramento to this day, with his wife Jennelyn and their Beagle Lady Bug. He remains active in Temple, Alcoholics Anonymous, and helps others suffering from alcoholism and addiction - he states that this will be his greatest accomplishment in life. Both of his parents, Linda and Charles, and sister Laura, live in Northern California as well. To this day, Stechman's parents have not been able to view "This Hollow Sacrament," stating that it is too realistic and violent. Stechman considers this his second greatest accomplishment in life. His next feature film is an original horror film entitled "Dance Of The Marionettes." It will lens in late Fall 2007/Early 2008.
