Hera Björk

Hera Björk Thórhallsdóttir, born in Iceland 29. of march 1972, is a well-known singer in herhomeland. Her debut album, Ilmur af Jólum, was released in November 2000 and received verygood reviews.
Now her second solo album "Hera Björk" is being released in October 2006 in Iceland only.There she shows a new side with her powerful voice, singing her own lyrics to the music ofmany good songwriters. Hera Björk has been In 1995 she sang in The Rocky horror Picture Showand since then has taken part in several musicals in Iceland. From 1996-2004 Hera Björk sangin the Chamber Choir Schola Cantorum in Hallgrímskirkja, Reykjavik. Schola Cantorum has wonrewards in international competitions and has released 3 albums, one of which was nominatedto The Icelandic Music Awards as the Classic Album of the Year 2002. Through the years ScholaCantorum has been working with many well-known Icelandic musicians on their projects likeOðin's Raven Magic with SIGURROS and BJORK..s latest album Medúlla.
In 1999-2000 she was the hostess on a very popular television show Stutt í Spunann, whichaired on Saturday nights on RUV, the National TVstation in Iceland. On the side she sang inthe musicals "The little shop of horrors" and "Kiss me Kate" at the Reykjavík City Theatre.In 2000 she moved to Akureyri in the north of Iceland. There she studied Business andMarketing at the University of Akureyri. On weekends she flew to Reykjavík to perform at theCity Theatre and sing with her pop group at that time 17 Vélar at clubs.
In 2004 Hera Björk met Cathrine Sadolin, a Danish entrepreneur in Complete Vocal Technique.She immediately fell for the technique and started taking lessons from Cathrine. CurrentlyHera Björk is living in Reykjavik and Copenhagen and working/studying as a vocalcoach andsinger.
