I'm in love with my lust, burning angelwings to dust...

About Me

In real life I'm The Artist Known as Laura Payne. I am a mural artist, independent fashion designer, model, seamstress, musician, wife, and mother.

I started sewing and creating things at a very young age. I can't remember a time when I wasn't making SOMETHING. I got my first sewing machine around the age of 10...it was more or less a toy, but it really did sew, and I took it with me EVERYWHERE. I learned how to use a real machine when I was in junior high Home Ec class. After that I inherited my grandmother's machine, which is now 50 years old and finally retired. I borrowed my best friend's much newer machine a while back and things have REALLY taken off since then. I just got a brand new Singer of my own, and have just started my own clothing line, Cherry Bombshell DIY. You can buy my stuff on Etsy.com (see the link below) and occasionally on eBay. Etsy is a great place to buy not only custom made clothes, but all sorts of cool handmade stuff like jewelry, handbags, artwork and so on. It is growing in popularity and is becoming THE place to obtain unique items.

I started painting in high school and was an art major (studying photography) in college for a couple of years before switching to a music major (vocal performance; I have also studied piano and guitar). I finally ended up with a degree in English many years later. Last year my children's Godmother commissioned me to paint a mural in her new house and I re-discovered my love of painting. After finishing that (check out the pictures I have here) I started work on my daughter's room. After I finish I hope to do that professionally. Not only am I an artist, I have an extensive background in house painting thanks to my father, so that's been helpful.

On a more personal note, I am married to the most patient and understanding and wonderful man on earth (See my #1 Top Friend below.). We've been together for over 15 years and have a 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son. I've finally reached a point in my life where I'm pretty content. I'm happy with my husband, kids, and friends (I am blessed with two best friends, Teresa and Luke, whom I love dearly), and I love where we live and don't ever want to live anywhere else.

And obviously...I am obsessed with cherries!
