"We must remember that art is art. Well, on the other hand water is water isn't it? And east is east and west is west.
And if you take cranberries and stew them like applesause they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does.
Now uh...now you tell me what you know." Groucho
PASSIONS:
1. Music, SEE BELOW:
2. Archaeology/Art History: I have degrees in this area. Primarily because I like ancient cultures and religion. I've studied The Ancient Near East (Egypt) and the Greco-Roman world, however, I am less a Classicist than an Art Hysterian! I love iconography, myth and the like. Well, I did. Until I decided to do graduate work in it...LOL Hey Mr. Peabody, where's my Way-Back machine?
3. Things that make me laugh: classic comedy like the Marx Bro's and Fields, Brit Humor like the Young Ones and Python, Canadian parody like SCTV, folks with finely developed senses of humor!
4. Pets: yes, animals have us all beat in the humane-ness dept. Pocket pets to 150 lb. doggies, I take care of other people's a lot and I like them all, especially the wiglet piglet, the Boosoonee Babies, the late Sid Ficious & Hogweed, the semi sentient, carnivorous plant.
5. The Craft: I am open to all others belief systems as long as they don't involve prostelitizing me into their CULT. I'm a witchy gal, plain and complex. I do my own thing, don't try to make me do yours, though I'll RESPECT it and honor your choice. If you are open to such things or pagan friendly or don't care either way, say hello. If not, don't let the door hit you on your tender lil.....
***ADDING FRIENDS: PLEASE JUST DON'T TRY TO ADD ME TO YOUR LIST. IF I DON'T KNOW YOU OR KNOW OF YOU, TAKE A MOMENT TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF VIA A NOTE. And don't take it personal if I decline the invite, life has been sadly busy. THANKS!
Hmmm, that's a tough ?....not that I"m looking for my puzzle piece, but....Rasputin riding a tiny unicycle, juggling bowls of live goldfish?, Lord S'iva carrying me like a sherpa pack up to Mnt. Kailasa?, the Fourth Doctor-drunk in the airport lounge wearing the celery outta my drink as a boutinniere?, Lucifer crash landing in my back yard in need of First Aid?, "Lennon & Marx" in a rowboat, Groucho singing and John telling jokes?, the Creature from the Black Lagoon collecting sea shells for his cabinet of curiosities?, a "recently separated" Black Bolt of the Inhumans?, the actual ghost in the machine?, mad scientists who are happy?, errant knights templar on motor bikes? AND
You, if you like exchanging witticisms. Mainly I am looking for deep souls and light hearts, not necessarily a contradiction in terms. Would love to meet some local folkals who enjoy gigs, art shows, museums, horror/sci fi/pagan thingees, or who share similiar interests as those above. On-line friends are fine, but real live cronies are better. A finely developed sense of the absurd is a MUST.
My fave myspace friend comment retained for posterity:
DUB: "Have you considered becoming Mistress Nyx, dominatrix to the illuminati? Wouldn't it be fun to whip the shit out of phony magelings? And get paid $500 for it? Well, just a thought..." DAMN, I MISS THAT SUPERGENIUS! sniff...sniff
Addendum: BTW, I know the definition of Single, be sure you do.
I grew up around music and musicians, so I have pretty eclectic tastes. I suppose I'm an O.P.W.A., and as a rule prefer both kinds: rock AND roll ;. Love garage, punque and pre-punk and most anything if its loud, fast and hard with an underlying pathos, quirk or better yet, HUMOR. I like to hear instruments being played by PEOPLE, but will tolerate that evocative ambient bizness performed by souless computers--just don't make me dance to it.
Am wondering if there's someone who put out a record in this century that is worth playing in my car's antique cassette player....send me your samples, I'll listen politely and toss an opinion back at yah--heck, I'll prob even check out your show. I do have a penchant for wicked penknife-to-the-heart lyricists (an Elvis Costello way with woids)....and bow down to amazing musicianship, but I'll never sneer at the brash "intricacies" of the good ole' three chord progression.
If a song summed me up, it might be the following ("Sing along with Jo-Jo!"),
Gather around for a minute or two
And I'll admit something to you
I get intrigued when women look sinister
Call me superficial, but I stare at them Vampire Girls.
It's not the mascara,
It's not the tight dress, (well maybe it is)
It's the look in the eyes that's gonna scare you to death.
Vampire Girl, Vampire Girl
I get so intrigued when they look like a vampire girl.
Does she cook beans? Does she cook rice?
Does she do ritual sacrifice?
Vampire Girl, Vampire Girl
Whoah, I get so intrigued when they look like a vampire girl.
Go little Vampire Girl
Go little Vampire Girl, Woooo
Go little Vampire Girl
Go little Vampire Girl
Evil now, scary now, go little vampire girl.
Evil now, yeah, Scary now Yeah Yeah
Evil now, yeah yeah, Scary now Yeah Yeah Yeah.
Is she in heaven? Is she in hell?
Is she a sex industry professional?
Vampire Girl, Vampire Girl
I get so intrigued when they look like a vampire girl.
If you fall for the rouse, buddy I won't laugh,
I believe I've fallen for it a couple times myself.
Vampire Girl, Vampire Girl
I get so intrigued when they look like a vampire girl.
Go little Vampire Girl . . . .
Here comes one with a serpentine walk
She's coming up to me and she wants to talk
Vampire Girl, Vampire Girl
I get so intrigued when they look like a vampire girl.
Who would have predicted? Who woulda suspected?
She's not so scary she's got all of my records.
Vampire Girl, Vampire Girl
Oh, I get so intrigued when they look like a vampire girl.
Well, Go little Vampire Girl . . . .-----------------------------------------------------------

TUNE INTO REV. DAN'S SHOW, HOODLUMS!
They don't rule my life, but I like the quirky stuff, old black and white noiresque or horror, the macabre, Sci Fi, even Fantastical, artsy things, comedies of old or new ones that are really REALLY witty (a Rarity, alas.)...I do secretly watch those British Romantic "epoques" but I don't subject others to that. I have little patience for the pretentiously highbrow as well as the lowest common denominator box office smashola.
Never did see The Passion: why see it when you've lived it. I think we need a good sensitive film about Satan now, what do you think? "Satan, the Early Years."
It's on in the background a lot or is that the radio, who can tell? Lately I leave on basic cable dyi stuff, and the food channel, I sleep to adult swim....Reality TV annoys me, but if there's a creative component...I'll watch. I don't really have a fave must see show at the moment, which is a good thing, I reckon. Now if I had Premium cable...well that would be a whole different story!
Too Many to list. I sort of wrote one...see above. Unfortunately, I don't get to read for leisure as much as I want to. I used to read musty old journal articles a lot--thankfully them daze R O-vur. For pleasure, I enjoy the weird and the witty: mystery (Victorian), Dark or Humorous Fantasy for old times sake, speculative fiction, gothic tales, Romantic Literary Classics of the 18 and 19th centuries full of people who profess their un-die-ing love for each other by tipping their hat and sending notes that never reach the object of their desire (the heros usually go mad in the end and stalk the moors)....most books on myth, culture, art, spirituality, etc. I can find something to read in The Bodhi Tree AND your local Comic Book Shop.
Hey, here's 2 I actually read this year: Bomp: saving the world one record at a time, by Suzy Shaw & Nick Farren AND my new fave, A Dark Muse: a history of the occult by Gary "Valentine" Lachman.
I think we'd all be better off if we just read Mutts Comics!
Folks who are creative and cool and just put out their vision in the world without fear. The real magicians, making something out of nothing. Lots of folks who do music and art and write fall into this category, are you the creative type? If so, bring it on!

VILLIANS: here's a description.
"Sin, " Endo has written, "is not what it is usually thought to be; it is not to steal and tell lies. Sin is for one man to walk brutally over the life of another and to be quite oblivious of the wounds he has left behind." (Shusaku Endo, 1969)
