I am a non sequitur

About Me

I graduated with a MSc. in Microbiology from the department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta in 2004. I studied in the laboratory of Dr. Kathy Magor where I worked to characterize two families of genes encoding immune-type lectins in the duck. My project was part of a larger program to further characterize the immune system of the duck to further its usefulness as a model of hepatitis virus infection for vaccination purposes. One member of one of these famillies is a putative marker of antigen presenting cell in ducks and may be used to isolate these cells for experiments testing a vaccine intended to break immune tollerance against the virus in congenitally infected individuals. I have been actively searching for an entry level research position in a job doing immunological research, particularily in the context of cancer immunotherapy for the past two years.

My Interests

Early immune activation, vaccine design, manipulating immune tollerance and cancer immunotherapy. Comic books and other transhumanist fiction. pop culture. Anthropology/ sociology/ politics

I'd like to meet:

Individuals with similar research interests or contacts to help me find a position in this field and or people who share my love of comic books. Also this is an open call to all comic book professionals or people looking to break in to the biz. Ask and I will add you. I want my profile to be as complete a listing of comics pros on My Space as possible.
