Jake first started to buy records from the age of 20, now 32 years of age, and a veteran house music lover/dj, Jake has come and gone with the many different genres of house music that has passed through the years. With early influences from U.S Hip Hop and house, he took to the U.K house scene like a duck to water. From listening to pirate radio stations such as Centre Force, going to illegal raves where people all met at the local petrol station, Jake has incorporated the many different styles of house in to his music collection, and to his Dj Set's.
Being a teenager in the late 80's, Jake is drawn more towards the tougher, electro side of house music. Anything that is funky and chunky is where you will find the music going in one of his sets, with many a vocal, stringy track thrown in for good crowd satisfaction.
Jake has been playing house parties, bars, clubs, for over a decade. This was more a hobby that he loved to do, rather than a career, until 2005, when he spent his first few days on the beautiful white island of Ibiza. DC10, and Space, were the moments that changed his life. It was here that he decided that this was the path that he wanted to take, and to try and make a living from a passsionate hobby that he has been doing for over 10 years.
Now nearly 33, Jake has been playing for the Ministry of Sound for just over a year. He started out with the Clubbers Guide Tours. these ranged from clubs, bars, and university's all over the U.K. He then beacame a Housexy resident Dj for MoS, and this has also taken him all over the U.K as well as international gigs such as Dubai, Bahrain, Amsterdam, and other European countries.
Housexy has a weekly residency in one of Soho's premier bars. They also have a weekly 2 hour radio slot on the MoS internet station. Jake has also had other resident slots on three other internet radio stations in the U.K. Hed Kandi has been the latest installment to Jake's career, playing at the launch night of Hed Kandi's, Queer Kandi.
There is much to come from the Jake Duval camp this year. The launch of his independent label is just around the corner, with up and coming Dj's apperaing on his label, as well as his own productions.
I would like to thank everyone that i have had the fortune to meet over the years, especially the people that have belived in me, and helped me to get where i am today, and last, but never least, to the people that really make the dance music scene what it is week in and week out...you are of course the clubbers! Lots of love to you all!!! xxx
