FINELINE TATTOO N.Y.C

God bless the L.E.S

About Me

Started around 1976 by TATTOOIST MIKE BAKATY, FINELINE TATTOO N.Y.C operated 'underground' out of MIKE'S loft space at 295 BOWERY. In 1997 a 35 year ban on TATTOOING in the 5 borroughs of NEW YORK CITY was finally lifted, and TATTOOING could finally be practiced in the open once again. Given this turn of events MIKE, along with his son MEHAI who had joined him in the trade some years earlier, ventured to go public. In the winter/spring of 1997 they opened FINELINE TATTOO N.Y.C. in the form of a street shop. Housing one of the bigest selections of HAND DRAWN FLASH in the world, FINELINE TATTOO N.Y.C is no longer the best kept secret in NEW YORK. My Interests

Killing all this elitism bullshit. Art for the people by the people thats what it's about! Who's with me?

I'd like to meet:

Tattoo-minded people. The unwashed masses. The unholy inked, and the fans of fine tattooing at its best. This is the real deal!

Music:

We all know ROCK AND ROLL will never die! We play alot of different music in the shop. Open minded to a point. Alex plays it too heavy and Mehai plays it too loud, but it's always something good.

Heroes:

All that came before in this 100 year old tradition of NEW YORK STYLE TATTOONING.
