Gratuitous plug for my first stand up review by Richard Hinojosa of NYtheatre.com from the show Hysterical Dementia......."The first performer, John Murdock, comes with his gravely-voiced standup about being a naughty balloon twister at Lucky Chang's. He tells some very funny stories about putting balloon penises or vaginas on the heads of bachelorettes. Murdock has an appealing, and seemingly essential these-days-life-is-shit-but-I'm-getting-by style. He also has some great material about working as a tour guide on one of those double-decker busses. Murdock is good. I'd go see him again."!!!!! Boo Ya!!!!! (the Boo Ya was my own addition)
I would like to meet God and ask him why he wants to watch me masterbate, and why he likes to throw frogs at Egyptians, and what does he have against woman and shellfish (there is a connection, I know it). I would also like to meet any of the freaks who challenge convention and stupidity at the Theater Under St. Marks, #94 St. Marks Place between 1st Ave and Ave A. UNDER St. Marks Theater, Right in the heart of the east village's last stand. Horsetrade theater co has gained the hearts and attention from a new generation of artists/performers by rewarding risk-taking and experimentation. The under St. marks scene inspires innovation while remaining abashed in the true east village spirit.
