About Me

____________________________________________________________ _______________
"One thing I can truly say is God is faithful. If he promised you that he's gonna do something then you can bet anything on it, because it shall be done!!!!!" -Delisha.
Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and raised in Mississauga, Ontario this young songstress at the tender age of 4 began showing an extreme interest in music. Being recalled by her grandmother as an energetic little girl. She was the child who ran around the house singing songs that she never really knew the lyrics to, but would make them up as she went along. As you listened to her you knew what song she was singing by the melody and a few key words that she happened to remember. Even into her teenage years music continued to drive her. Industry Pillars such as Michael Jackson,Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey and Sade were people she recalled listening to and later became a strong foundation of influence.
At the age of six and half Delisha began attending vocal lessons at the Canadian Academy of vocal. Where she trained with Ian Garrett, known for training Country Music Mega star Shania Twain. Entering Various competitions including the Kawanis song festival in Toronto winning two first place and one second place positions.
By the age of 13 Delisha began writing songs, and would do so daily to hone her craft. Not too long after working at it she released a song titled "Loving you", which played on the Canadian television series "Blue Murder". Excited about recieving this small foretaste her hunger grew, she continued working. In 1995 she hooked up with independant local producer Andre Brewster, recording the song "Movin' On" which ended up on the Canadian release "Groove essentials vol 1" compilation album. By age 15 Delisha then locked arms with Canadian Producer Billy Alexander and with him recorded her first radio single "Can't Stop" as Delisha Thomas the artist.
For her this would only be a small stepping stone towards a greater vision. Her management team came up with a strategy to get her to work with producers in the United States. Now more than ever Delisha had to step up her writing, at the time having no producers to work with, every song was written accapella, relying soley on whatever God given melodies came to mind. After the conception of four concrete songs that both her and her management team felt confident in, they sought out producers to bulid around the vision. Eventually finding one that would then add the final component to would be Delisha's first artist demo.
The package was now complete and they ran with it. Taking up meetings in New York and conferring with people overseas to see what moves could be made. They recieved interest but no one to actually bite. Discouraged but not broken Delisha and her management continued to knock on the industry's door. In the Fall of "99 they met up with Fred Jerkins III, Lashawn Daniels and later Rodney Jerkins of the Infamous Darkchild camp. This camp has sold over 140 millions records worldwide and has been responsible for hits such as "The Boy is mine" Brandy and Monica, "He wasn't man enough for me" Toni Braxton, "You rock my world" Michael Jackson, "It's not right but it's okay" Whitney Houston, "Overprotected remix" Britney Spears and numerous others.
But still seeing no progress in sight "yet", both Delisha and her management team decided to continue on thier search once again. They remained hopeful but it became shortly lived as they would come to find themselves forced to part ways due to irreconcilable differences.
Delisha now ready to call it quits, was working a part time job and looking to go off to school. That was until that one fateful day came and completely changed her life. She recieved a phone call from Fred Jerkins III who was ready to sign her immediatly. In the late fall of 2001 the pen hit the paper and Delisha signed with FJ productions owed by Fred Jerkins III.
Between the years of 2002 and 2003 Delisha spent her time playing catch up, continuing to write, and sharpen her talents, working to bring herself up to par. In 2004 with the help of both Fred Jerkins III, and Rodney Jerkins, Delisha finnally struck gold and landed her first writing placement "Get Loose" on pop star Christina Millian, but that would only be the beginning. In 2005 she landed what would be her second and third placements "Step into my world" and "I got you" both songs on International superstar and Multi Platinum selling Artist Jennifer Lopez.
Things were finnally progressing and continued to snow ball. Later on that same year Delisha co-wrote on a song titled "You don't know" along side Lashawn Daniels and Fred Jerkins III. This song was featured on "I owe you" the debut album of Kierra Sheard, daughter to Karen Clark Sheard of the Imfamous Clark sisters. This song was Delisha's first radio single, shooting up on the Billboard gospel charts to number 1, winning Delisha her first Dove Award. "Brighter days" by George huff and "Give him the praises" by gospel group Virtue were soon to follow. "Brighter days" was later nominated for a Dove award that following year.
After this Delisha worked in Darkchild/ Joyful Child recording artist Joy Enriquez wife to mega producer Rodney Jerkins. On this project she was featured doing background vocals, and cowriting along side Rodney Jerkins and Joy Enriquez herself on a song titled "Don't you let go" and Co writing again alongside Rodney Jerkins, Lashawn Daniels and Anesha Birchett on the vibrant uptempo "Been so good" both songs feautured on the Atmopshere of Heaven album.
Bringing us up to date, in 2006, Delisha started the year off strong with the release of "follow me" by Darkchild gospel recording group Virtue. This was their first single off their upcoming album Testimony. She would then write on a follow up song "Deja Vu", which was Beyonce's first single off her highly anticipated sophmore album B-Day. This song hit the charts and found itself a spot at number 1. Even though it was making noise in the United States it making an even bigger buzz overseas. Upon it's European debut Deja vu found number 1 spots in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Phillipines, and Indonesia. It's Video created a such a buzz that it was number 1 on Trl, Yahoo, and MTV.
Shortly after this Delisha would co-write again on a song titled "Hold me down" by making of the band girls Danity Kane, Teaming up along side Lashawn Daniels and Antea Birchett. The release of thier self titled album Danity Kane debuted in at number 1 on the billboard Hot 200. "I need a Boss" Shareefa is the new R&B smash under her belt. Working together this time along side Anesha Birchett and Lashawn Daniels this song currently continues to climb the R&B Billboard charts.
The list continues to grow as this budding songstress does. Seeing a bright and prosperous future ahead, Delisha continues to keep God first and press forward. This is only the beginning, with new and exciting projects on the horizon the sky's the limit.
