Equus Luminous

Melanie Levy - owner & founder of Equus Luminous - understands the intrinsic bond between horse and rider. As a lifelong horse owner, she has the innate ability to see the true beauty of every equine, and is able to transfer that beauty to film. Melanie's goal is to capture the emotion between you and your horse and make it come alive and vibrantly clear in a two-dimensional photograph.
Her immense knowledge of all things equine greatly helps when it comes to promoting your stallion, selling your top yearling, or preserving the relationship you share with your best friend. While she does take traditional images during each session, she strives to shoot unique and eye-catching moments with an artistic flair. She prefers to pose her subjects as little as possible, finding candid shots much more relaxed and realistic.
Because of this, her award winning work has been featured in publications such as Practical Horseman, Chronicle of the Horse, The American Quarter Horse Journal, USEF's Equestrian, Bridle & Bit, and AZ Horse Connection. She has also been the Official Photographer for events such as the prestigious AZ HITS Show, Grand Canyon State Games, and the NCAA Varsity Equestrian Championships.
Melanie spends her time teaching seminars and online classes, shooting stallions and portraits, and when time permits, working her Arab gelding Apache & Hanoverian, Daisy. Her mare is in foal to Salto, due in May of 2008.
