Maranda Curtis, affectionately described as Gospel's greatly anticipated psalmist has been a lover of music all her life, which explains why her range, tone, jazzy effects and creativity attracts so many listeners. Maranda Curtis started out singing before family and friends at the age of two years old. It wasn't long afterwards, that everyone knew God was going to do something magnificent with her vocal gift. Born and raised in Miami, Florida to Reverend W.S. Curtis and Mrs. Darlene Curtis and having been the fourth of seven children, Maranda quickly found singing to be a source of comfort, not just for herself but for all that would hear her. She was often complimented for having such a crystal clear quality with a tone that was both mellow and melodic. At the age of 13, she moved to the outer perimeters of Atlanta, to a small town called Concord, Georgia. It was here that she joined the Old Mount Calvary Baptist Church and began singing with the local church choir. Singing during weekly church services gave her the opportunity to be heard by many local ministers and musicians which quickly created a local buzz. This opened the door for many invitations to sing with local groups and at a wide variety of different concerts and events. By the age of 19, it was clearly evident that Maranda developed a love for all types of music including traditional Gospel and the Quartet sound. Maranda agreed to sing for a local Quartet called the Mighty Sons of Zion from Griffin, Georgia. She then became the only female vocalist singing with the all male quartet. Singing with these male vocalists didn't intimidate her, In fact; she just stood flat footed and belted out notes that left everyone in sheer awe of her vocal excellence and the anointing GOD has placed over her life. In the summer of 2003, Maranda caught the attention of Musical Genius, Pastor John P. Kee when she performed with Ricko Clark and the Anointed Voices of Griffin, GA on the new artist showcase at Kee's Victory in Praise Conference in Charlotte, NC. The crowd of conference attendees including John P. Kee were blessed and amazed at what they had heard and witnessed as she sang lead vocals to "Live without You" by Ricko Clark. This performance afforded Maranda the opportunity to be recorded singing "Great is our God" on the Victory in Praise CD, written & produced by Pastor John P. Kee. She is also featured on Kee’s latest project NOTHING BUT WORSHIP along with Fred Hammond, Nikki Ross, Timiney Figueroa-Caton, and Shelia Lakin. November of 2005, John P. Kee offered Maranda Curtis the position of Praise & Worship leader for New Life Fellowship Center of Charlotte, NC at which she still currently serves faithfully. Maranda can be found any given Sunday ministering at New Life Fellowship Center as well as ministering at conferences, workshops, concerts or touring with the New Life Community Choir.
