ROUGH BIOGRAPHY

Musician, Conductor, Composer, Arranger
Jean Musy was born on December 18th, 1947 in Levallois by Paris, and was addicted to music from the very beginning. Or the other way round... He starts playing piano with four years. With 15, he plays in various well-known Parisian jazz clubs. With 19, his precocious talent lets him join Nino Ferrer's band as his organist. He will then conduct Joe Dassin's orchestra and write one year later the arrangements of his "Champs-Elysées", which still remains a world-wide hit. This is just the beginning of a long career which is not ready to end.
Through his talent and labour intensity, and assisted by his absolute pitch, Jean Musy soon becomes one of the most prolific composers/arrangeurs in France.
He will work on more than 600 singles and nearly 200 albums.
He composed and orchestrated soundtracks for over hundred French and international movies, and thus, worked with the most renowned and/or talented directors of the 20th and 21st centuries, among them Costa Gavras, Juan Bunuel, Jean-Claude Brisseau and David Hamilton - movies featuring Peter O'Toole, Romy Schneider, Omar Sharrif, Annie Girardot, Yves Montand, Michel Lonsdale, Rufus, Vanessa Paradis and many more.
He worked with most famous international interpretes such as Charles Aznavour, Moustaki and Mireille Mathieu - just to name few - and Francophonic artists, among them Barbara, Serge Reggiani, Adamo, Dalida, Marie Laforêt, Yves Duteil, Nicole Croisille...
Jean Musy belongs to the most endowed composers of his generation.
