In the late 1990s, long term friends Richard Boxer, Stephen Smith & Peter White were regular figures on the trance and chilled clubbing scene. Usually to be found playing their african Djembes, the three were heavily influenced by their experiences at the Whirl-y-Gig and Big Chill clubs, and began to write their own tunes. However, after some time they sought out more first-hand global musical influences and went travelling. Their journeys took them to Morocco, which became a significantly influential touchstone for them all. Many of Skubadunka's tunes are inspired by and reflect the diversity of their Morrocan experience: from the heavenly mountains of Chaouen to the dangerous back streets of Tetouan. Unfortunately, a near-death event cut short their travels, but the three musicians drew upon their experiences and began writing what eventually became the 'Shanti' EP.
A limited edition pressing was released on local record label "Bandwagon Records", which is now a sought after collectors item.
