About Me

Spasmo is a singer / poet / songwriter / arranger / composer something of a one man musical battalion fighting a war of recognition to win..
Incorporating a diverse range of influences from 60s and 70s film scores to 70s jazz rock to late 80s hip-hop Spasmo represents a broad spectrum of musical interests and spices in his artistic repertoire..
The primary focus of Spasmo's campaign as of now is the release of the full length instrumental cinematic jazz album 'Executions On Percussion' and exploring the possibility of synchronising the music alongside appropriate visuals.
'Executions' is an album of cinematic jazz background music specifically designed for usage in film, television and radio which incorporates a cross section of styles and vibes ranging from jazz rock to bossa and sentimental to militant.
All 4 tracks on this page taken from the forthcoming album are a definite reflection of the eclectic and filmic mood of 'Executions'' as well as an illustration of Spasmo's love and ability for composing and arranging good music in its own right.
Track 1 'Monkey See Monkey Do' (bouncy, alert, tricky) is a subtly dramatic bossa piece utilizing aspects of classical and jazz in its eclectic melting pot to convey a contradictory sense of joyous and furtive movement.
Track 2 'Kabukicho' (beaty, furtive, cool) is a musical travelogue piece named after the infamous Tokyo red light district of Kabukicho and musically inspired in its rhythm movement by mid to late 70s beaty UK jazz-rock tracks by the likes of De Wolfe and KPM while utilising classic oriental motifs to give some local colour and the storyline of the track a definite location and setting.
Track 3 'The Solemn Moment' (funareal, episodic, reflective) is a melancholic gangster piece inspired by the moods and colours of the films of Jean-Pierre Melville especially 'Le Samourai' and also the Mike Hodges film 'Get Carter'.
Track 4 'A Good Day To Die' (fateful, humourous, stealthy) is an ironic piece inspired by the work of Ennio Morricone in the late 60s / early 70s Italian political crime genre on films such as Elio Petri's 'Investigation Of A Citizen Above Suspicion' and Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon A Time The Revolution' / 'Giu La Testa'.
