loopez

loopez is the brainchild of Uruguayan musician/producer Nico Costa, a solo project developed in two areas: the studio & the live act. After playing different instruments in several bands and also deejaying at school parties and clubs from the mid 80’s, Costa started producing and experimenting with a PC at home on the mid 90’s while being an architecture student. As the end of the century was arriving and having finished his studies a time of changes came and the idea of his own music project became reality by the end of 1999. Months later started to play this music live with a band and also as a DJ set. On 2003 released “pool” his debut album and some of the tracks became hits on local radios and also were used as a couple of TV shows soundtracks. One of the hits on this album was a version of Sexteto Electronico Moderno’s “New Soul”. This uruguayan band that was in oblivion went back to life and on the same year loopez produced a S.E.M.’s greatest hits album. One year later the band re-formed to play a couple of sold out shows and a Remixes Album, also produced by loopez was released. Recently, loopez’s second album “..too..” was awarded as best electronic album of 2006 in Uruguay running against well known artists as Bajo Fondo Tango Club among others.
