About Me
Take one musician who loves the deep, swampy textures of the blues, and lyrics with potent imagery in the vein of Bob Dylan and Chris Whitley. Add another musician who has quite a taste for contemporary, brooding pop and percolating soundscapes. Add one more who knows and loves Jazz inside and out. Though its three members have very different musical backgrounds, once combined, the sound they make seems like the perfect match. It grooves, it gets down-and-dirty, it gets mellow, it flat-out rocks. Rather than fitting neatly into a single genre, the Jeff Jones Band traverses boundaries and traditions, constantly challenging themselves to reach unique musical spaces.
Jeff Jones makes his words count. Thats the simplest way to describe his lyrical prowess and vocal delivery, simultaneously raspy and smooth. But thats not the only voice he uses. His guitar is directly connected to his singing, a mirror of the emotion and rhythm in the moment. He croons. He growls. His guitar follows suit.
Though a lot of the music Eric Matlock enjoys may be low-key, on stage he is anything but. His head is swinging and bouncing wildly. He doesnt sit. He jumps up & down. He sweats. And he pounds the hell out of those keyboards until they submit and play what he wants them to. This is damn-thats-funky rock & roll.
Ray Erst has 20+ years of playing and teaching drums, a genuinely honest player, straight forward in life and his music. In him lies the heart of an accomplished professional who has studied and played with some of the best. Hes at ease whether hes laying out New Orleans jazz, solid funk, or a tight hip-hop beat.
