My Interests

OMG, Am I that old! I don't feel it. It was hard to fess up to it but what ya gonna do. I am young at heart and I guess that is what counts most. Most people guess I am in my mid thirty's. I guess the secret is to spend time with younger people. I also enjoy "hanging out" with my kids, can learn a lot about their life, their hopes and dreams if you take the time to listen. It also keeps you current in the youth culture and I guess that helps too. Hey, I'm a Toyrus kid, I don't ever want to grow up, life is too much fun and making movies,,, well that is the most fun of all. Paul Mc Cartney once said "the trick in life to to find what you love and keep doing it". Yup, that about says it all. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Some more stuff about me: I enjoy scuba diving (I'm a rescue diver), working on losing weight to get back in my wetsuit, Singing (used to sing professionally, even cut a record, but now stick to lullabyes, Photography, movie making, racquetball (working on getting back my A game-used to enjoy doubles and managed to escape with only the occassional doughnut),horsebackriding (I worked at a racehorse breeding farm [trotters/pacers/flats], nothing like the sight of a newborn foal on a cold February night), history (I am currently reading the journals from Lewis and Clark), science (I read JAMA for "fun"), art (I go to movies with a clip board to take notes, also love museums), meeting new people (especially people who are passionate about what they are doing), Playing cards, laughter, dancing, doing something for charity (hey ya gotta give something back), hangin out with my kids, the ocean at sunset, a clear crisp fall day, perfect for the fair or apple pickin, and chasin fireflys. I put a whole part of my life on the shelf after my divorce to raise my kids; I think it helped them but now it is time for me to get out there are meet that person who completes me. I have so many things I have yet to do and it sure would be great to do them with the one I love.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Here are some of my favorite quotes: ,,,, I have less interest in who my grandfather was,,I am more concerned who his grandson will become. A Lincoln,,,,,,Don't let school interfere with your education. Mark Twain aka Samuel Clemens, BTW, to mark twain is a riverboat expression taking mark of depths ,,,When dealing with men of business, be brief, concise, and to the point. G. Washington,,,,,What we have to do, we learn by doing. Aristole,,,,,,What on earth would a man do with himself if something did not stand in his way. H.G. Wells,,,,Now is no time to think of what you do not have, think of what you can do with what there is. Ernest Hemingway,,,The ablest man I ever met,,,is the man you think you are. FDR,,,,Wise men talk because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something. Plato,,,,There all kinds of things of which I was afraid at first from grizzly bears to mean horses and gunfighters; but acting as if I was not afraid helped me to cease being afraid. Teddy Roosevelt,,,,When people ask me how I came to E=MC2, I just tell them that behind all of science is my belief in God, It was that belief that helped me solve the puzzle, I just knew God would have an elegant order to the universe. A Einsten,,,If you are not failing every now and again, it is a sign you are not doing anything very innovative. Woody Allen,,,I never met a man I did not like. Will Rogers,,,,Que Sera sera, (what will be will be) Doris Day,,,,,Just do it! Nike,,,,,,"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans". John Lennon,,,,,,,,From "the Bishop"s wife" Cary Grant who plays the angel Dudley is reading Mrs Broms (Bishops wife) palm and he says, "In all the world there is only one constant,,,Youth and Beauty,,,Oh they are really the same thing. Loretta young then replies, "Oh but people get old." Cary replies, "People grow old because they were BORN OLD, You were born young and will remain that way,,,, Great line and I believe it, some people are born old, me, I was born young, heck I am a toys r us kid and will find wonder and magic in all things to the end of my days,,,Claude Rains to Boogie, "I'm shocked, shocked, that gambling is going on here!,,,,, When I am good, I'm very good. But when I am bad, I'm better. Mae West, Harvey Korman: "Scarlet, that dress, that dress,,, it is wonderful!" Carol Burnett: "I saw it in the window and just had to have it",,,,,,From the "the Maltese Falcon" as the wrapping paper is removed to reveal a statue of a black bird; Just what is it? Boogie repiles, "The stuff dreams are made of.

I'd like to meet:

Here is a video, "The Making of "Daddy's Girl" part one, This is a radio interview on the Woody Woodland show, we put some video clips together with the interview and presto, instant making of video, enjoy.
| View | Add FavoriteHere are some pics from HollywoodHere is a secret about me, if you look carefully in the pictures above, you will see no drink in front of me, If I do drink, it is usually a diet coke. Still, I can have a great time and isn't that what life is all about. I laugh easily and always have a song in my heart. Just hanging with friends, good conversation, silly jokes, whatever, it is all good. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ I have been lucky to meet some famous people already but that was more by accident and circumstance. Hmmm, well Adam Sandler would be fun to meet, I think because he seems to be still a regular guy even after 20 mil a picture. Being famous is not a priority, I just like to meet people who are interesting and who change your life. Lots of people have done that already and I hope to meet a lot more in the future. We only dance a short while, it is great to meet people on the journey who can make life more vivid, teach us something about ourselves, and to provide memories which sustain us in our moments of doubt. Here are some of my friends:

Music:

When Zachary was about six years old, we had been divorced for about a year and he still hoped his mother would return. below is the song that he latched onto, everytime I hear it, I think of the forelorn hope of a small boy hoping his mother might see him in the snow coverd hill, and maybe, just maybe, the landslide would bring her back.Landslide

Add to My Profile | More VideosThis song always spoke to my desire to be more than I am, I guess we see others who appear to have things we don't and we yearn to "be like that". To be popular, to be beautiful, to have talent, poise, oh to be more than we are. I have come to realize that there are very few perfect people out there and most everyone yearns to "be like that" .....,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,When I got divorced, I struggled to find meaning, somehow I was adrift and felt all alone. I would have walked through fire for her, I gave her my heart and even though it has been more than 10 years, I still struggle to find a way to heal my heart and move on. This song talks to that feeling of emptiness, we all need to reach out when we see others hurting, we need to find the way to heal our heart,,, we need to know how to save a life: Unfortunately the song was deleated by you all know it. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I actually met John Lennon on a photoshoot, seems like a lifetime ago. He was so alive, yet so childlike and playful. I cried when he died and morned with the throngs of people who came to NYC to hold a candle and each other. John was the poet for a generation, it is so true, we never realized his genius until he was gone. More than any song, we sang imagine, a song of hope, of love, and or peace, all the causes he stood for. John made us feel like we belonged, that our generation had something important to accomplish, we had a voice and more than anyone else of his time, John expressed our voice like no other. The world is a bit more empty with his passing. I love ballad's and this one from Incubus speaks to me. I have had to work since I was 5 years old (mucking out stalls, candling eggs, picking crops).I learned long ago that you can work with others but in the end, you are the one who needs to take the wheel and control your life. Darn, deleated again but I suspect most know this one too. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, , I have been divorced for quite some time now and spent most of the time just raising my kids. I never thought I would know love again until a young couple fell in love on the set. Watching them, so very much in love, it restored my faith in love, it told me not to give up, oh how wonderful it is to see them together, so very much in love. This is their song; it speaks to all in love, or those who long for it, Michael Buble's "Home"Here is a bit of history, this was the first WORLD WIDE SIMULCAST EVER.The Beatles did many things and they were great because they were innovators. They added violins and piccolo trumpets to a rock band, who ever heard of that until George Martin turned them onto it. Like the Beach Boys, They created a new sound but they went beyond, kept innovating and that is why they were the best band of the century. This world wide broadcast was done during the Vietnam war just after the Tet Offensive. Things looked bleak, the war seemed endless and up to the mics came the Beatles with a song that reassured us in the most simple way, that there was a way to solve our troubles, all you need is love. .. width="425" height="350" ..Another ballad, hey they speak to me, This is a bit surreal but once again, it talks about taking measure of the short dance we have and holding the moments dear.green day time of your life

Movies:

Here is a funny scene from wonderfully uninhibbited Meg Ryan, so much fun! Jack Benny once said humor is truth,,, only faster. This is a scene that speaks of truth. Watch for the tag line at the end, that is Rob Reiner's mother! Here is another great opening scene from Cabaret, a very cleaver movie that documents the coming Nazi takeover from the perspective of a Cabaret. Very decadent and memorable performances from Joel Grey and Liza Minnelli and of course Bob Fosse's coreography. The opening sequence sets to stage for the rest of the film. Notice that they only sell sex in this scene, later, the themes change dramatically, thus is the brilliance of this screenplay. My current project, "Deception" trys to show a similar brake down this time the terror comes from Jihadist, but we have seen the face of terror before, it takes many forms. Enjoy,, Cabaret!Great ending, I understand that even Boogie did not know the ending until the last pages were written, Great film, pay attention to the fogFilm Noir, a style I will be using in my next film. Here is one of the best, Orson Wells is finally unmasked in this scene, notice the camera angles, the placement of shadows and the madolin which plays in the entire movie, very neat, this was filmed right after the war ended (WW II)Another Film Noir, this is the scene that made Casablanca more than just a love story, it made the struggle real in a way similar to Cabaret, it is hard not to feel the emotion and be moved by this scene, anyone who has experienced war immediately recognises this universal pain. Wonderful movie with dynamic cast that made the movie jump out at you. Again, notice the use of shadow and cigarette smoke so important to film noir. This scene demonstrated that evil can be conquered by good, there are more of us then them, the courage of one man inspires the others to sing and in doing so, to defy evil. This scene is the key to making this a classic, other scenes with the memorial lines delivered so well make it a joy to watch but without this context, it never would have become one of the top ten movies of all time. Here is another of my favorite themes, forlorn love. I love the mix of anger followed by the most tender of pleas to Christine, it speaks to all the people who are not perfect in some way, wanting to be accepted for who they are and of the anger for being left out. I love the confusion, the passion, and in the end, it is sympathy rather than love that draws her near, and the last thing he wants is pity, he wants love. The saddest part is when he brakes into song pleading with Christine to "save him from his solitude" Opps, the removed the video, darn, well, go out and see the movie, it is worth the rental!Going to the theater was so much a part of my early life. I enjoyed performing on stage and watching others perform as well. Here is the theatrical release of a play, Fiddler on the Roof. A tale of endurance against all odds, of family, devotion, and above all, love. This scene has always stayed with me, it puts all the emotions together, a beautiful music video at a time when music videos (as we know them) were not invented, enjoy Topol as he sings a song familiar to all fathers, Sunrise, Sunset. Here is a great video from "Almost Famous", a Cameron Crowe film, sorry for the poor video but I wanted the bookends in this clip, it starts with Russell, the lead guitarist, strung out on drugs and we see the song heal him and the band, very cool, wait for the last line from "Lady Goodman" aka Penny Lane, You are home!, it speaks to the outsider in all of us, we are only outside if we let ourselves be, the world is out there, go grab it,,, even the "great Russell Hammond" was on the outside, we all take our turn at being stupid, it is when you have friends that share the journey with you, they can lift you up and make you better than you are, here is Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" in context. There are so many great scenes from Quentin's work, Pulp Fiction is an obvious choice and Kill Bill 1 &2 have lots of action scenes to choose from. Here is one of my favorites with Michael Parks and Uma, the acting is all subdued and yet intense, watch for the cigarette and for Uma's inflections, great acting is not only with big gestures, this scene shows it can be with small ones too.The great Tom Hanks, here are 3 scenes from Cast Away, it is a hard movie to watch at times, my favorite is the last of the 3 clips, Unfortunately the best part of the scene is cut from this clip but it does set it up well. The next scene is when they both get into the car, the looks, the raw emotion, very powerful and then Tom says "You have to go home", well it is one of the best delivered lines of all time, pathos for all to see, the inflections, the pauses, the delivery, it is all what makes a good actor a great actor. Anyone can say the line, to make us all beleive it and feel for the actor as if we are living that experience, well that is very special. Here is another one of my favorite movies, Shakespeare in Love, I love the clever melding or real life and the play, buy this scene, the irony and pathos come together, truly great film making. Opps, removed again, go see it!Fast times at Ridgemont High is a great teen movie, Now I am not gonna show you the blank off scene but if you saw the movie, you can enjoy that memory, I have kids who visit the site so need to watch what I post, Here is a scene with Ray Walston and Sean Penn, very fun and I am sure all teachers out there know this guy. That is what made this movie, besides the quest for sex which is a teen movie standard, the familiar characters are what make it really work. removed again, see this movie!

Television:

I don't watch much TV except for HBO, and then only Sunday night, does that count?

Books:

I love to read the journals of real people who lived real lives rather than historical novels which are not always right. I particularly like American history and have studied many Indian tribes (about 200 of the 500 tribes) and was even given a name for my help on Native American Chat. I love other cultures and how they solve life's common challenges. Did you know the Inuit have 34 words for snow, when you live up there, you learn to tell the difference. The Iroquios had a materlineal society where the women picked the chiefs and they were the real power behind the scenes. I like the different way men and women are treated in different societies, how children are raised, oh just about everything interest me, mostly on the personal level, just how do they live. I read everyday from JAMA to the comics, its all good.Umstepe, ayeonka wachechu shumonie wasampe epinepelo washte, Hoka Hey!In English, Pay attention, this white man will dance among the stars, its all good,Oh, for those of you who got this far, Sirona means bright star or wishing star in celtic lore, that is where the "star light, star bright" comes from. Sirona was the first bright star in the sky and all the hopes and dreams of many a dreamer were placed upon that star, how fitting to name my company after such a star, I am always aware of the hopes and dreams of those around me,,, I have been fortunate to have such bright stars all around me and take with them all there hopes and dreams,,, one day, I will make them all come true. ............................................................ ..............,,,,,,,,,,While I met John, I never have met Paul but sure would love to. If my star keeps rising, maybe one day our paths may cross. Sure feel like I know him, mostly from his music. I think even though Paul and John fought a lot, they were so much better together. John was always jealous of Paul's ballads (no one hums "I am a Walrus", but Paul longed for John's lyrics (looking glass ties?). There relationship was kinetic, somehow they made each other better than they could be and we all shared in the magic. Here is an interesting out take on getting a song recorded, notice how Paul can do all the parts, pretty cool and what a talent. It reminds me and my brothers in our basement playing Beatles songs together, bet we were one of millions of hopeful bands out there. I later went on to sing professionally, cut a record and then puberty hit and it all came down with a falsetto crash. Oh well, I can still do a mean lullabye. The beatles - For no one (Paul outtake)

Add to My Profile | More Videos,,,,,,,,, This was one of the last recordins from the Beatles. Notice Billy Preston is there on keyboards and Yoko Ono. Many blamed her for the break up but I think John came to rely on her, sort of his yin to her yang, both sides of the same circle. Yoko completed John and even after his 14 month "lost weekend", she knew he would take the long and winding road back to her. Sure people what to blame her but look at all the happiness John had when he finally could "get off the Merry Go round" He even began to reconnect to Cyn and Jullian but tragically too late. This was one of the last Beatles songs and it really does seem fitting that they were aware of the journey they all had taken in their lives and loves. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Finding your true love is hard, keeping it can be even harder. You can never stop loving each other, you have to always beleive in each other and in love, and if you are lucky, you take the long and winding road and find the person who makes your heart whole. ,,,,,, Only then do you truly realize how truly alone you were all that time you were on the road. To those of you who found true love, hold onto each other, chersih the journey on the long and winding road.,,,,,,The Beatles - The Long & Winding Road

Add to My Profile | More Videos,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I love most music from hip hop, disco, blues, jazz,, it is all great. I love classic movies and still like the old Christmas songs but every so often a new one pops up and becomes a new "classic" I have always loved Cole Porter's "Night and Day" Here is Al B Sure's modern twist to a that classic song, bamm, a new classic is born. Here is a link to all the great talent in New England:

Heroes:

Well Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and George Washington are right up there. I also admire Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and so many more famous people. Most of all, I admire the people who have come into my life and changed it for the better. These people include Jennifer, Sophie, Eddie, Kristin (yes even you), Natalie, Kendra and Angie (yes young people can teach other ones too, Kevin (no Soph, I did not forget), Dorothy, Sacha, Mike, Joe, Ellen and so many more. The people you meet every day can change your life and make it more whole, thanks guys, you helped me more than you know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Here is a catchy song from Sara Bareilles, definately an up and coming star
