About Me

BASICS:
I guess I’m like most people in that there are many facets that make up my personality, and certain aspects of me shine through at different times depending on the situation I’m in or the people I’m with. Generally speaking, I’m a laugher who enjoys long conversations about life and random observations with my few close friends.
DAILIES:
The day to day consists of rehearsals and performances with The Newyorkettes, an a cappella "beauty shop" quartet, you can check us out at www.thenewyorkettes.com (for me, singing=happiness), managing a salon in the West Village (I thoroughly LOVE the beauty industry), and taking a bajillion pictures of my cat, Zeppelin (I seriously never thought I’d become THAT person!). City life is chaotic and although the chaos resonates with me I train at Seido for balance and peace of mind.
THE RECIPE:
Puerto Rican/Italian, Midwestern upbringing (Indiana to be exact), spoon fed oldies (music and television), bookworm, writer, singer. Mix together, throw in some gummy bears for color, and you’ve got Julie Castro in a nutshell.
MINDSET:
I believe that everything happens for a reason, even the bad things that make you ask yourself, “Why me?” I’m all about trying to stay positive, to focus on solutions rather than dwell on problems. It’s not always easy in this crazy and confusing world of ours, but I do my best. Negative people are like mosquitos; they drain me of my energy so I avoid them at all cost.
FAVE QUOTES:
“Enjoy yourself. It’s later than you think.” – Chinese Proverb
“There is no such thing as ugly woman, only lazy woman.” – Julie Lin
In my next life I want to be less high maintenance than I am now, more at peace than I am now...but I wouldn’t change who I am now.
