Bio:Hi! My name is Rob and I play drums(WOW!!!). This is my story... I was born and raised in a small rural village in Lakeville, New Brunswick. This is where my passion for drums started. I was in grade five when I had my first divine experience with drums,(that's right God talked to me that day, well it might have been Zeus) anyway, It was a class trip from our elementary school to the junior school to see the High school band perform. That day the band ended with the song 'Wipe Out', when that classic tom fill/groove started all I could imagine was...ME!!! playing behind that drum kit, playing that song myself and all eyes focused on me. I myself went on to play in the high school band and continued to play drums/percussion right up until I graduated. After I graduated I went on to college to study music in Nashville, Tennessee. I soon realized that I had made a big mistake, because all I wanted to do was play drums, I wasn't interested in all the other classes I had to take. So, I decided to move to Ontario, seeing how I could work legally, and wasn't considered an illegal alien back in Canada, although being called an alien made me seem very mysterious. With only one hundred dollars, a bag of cloths, and three five gallon buckets, I made my way to London, Ontario. There I played 5 gallon buckets on the streets of London in exchange for some loose change, strange drugs and the occasional hot dog all courtesy of the kindness of the wonderful London strangers. With the money I made from busking I was able to get a small apartment, work on buying a real drum kit piece by piece, and start auditioning for bands. In 2001 I landed my first gig with London rockers 'Blend', they were all music indrustry Arts graduates from Fanshaw college, and they just released there first full lengh album and needed a drummer that could tour for months at a time, so I put down the buckets and went on tour. After about a year of playing with Blend I went on to play with the band Trole. Trole had just released there illegal bootleg demo c.d and they too needed a drummer to tour the album. After getting a copy of the trole album I started to learn the drum parts, and the more I listened, and the more I played along to the music the more frustrated i got, I couldn't do justice to the drum parts. I was blown away by the drummer who Trole hired in the studio to record the album, that being studio session great Randy Cooke. I finally decided that if I was going to learn these parts right i'd have to go to the source, so that's what I did. I studied with Randy for two years, traveling from London to Toronto once a month to spend an afternoon at Just Drums with Randy, learning how to play drums all over again; it was a very humbling experience to say the least. In 2005 I went on to continue studies in New York City at Drummers Collective, there I studied with funk drumming master Pat Petrillo. In the fall of 2005 I went on to play with Canada's top pschobilly band The Matadors, I recorded all drums on the Horrorbilly 9000 album, and toured western & eastern Canada and Europe in support of the album.
Currently i'm back playing/and booking Canada's best roots rock-n-roll/rockabilly band...TROLE!!!
Bands that i'm currently working with or have worked with include: The Creepshow, Electric Knife fight, Rehab for Quitters, Machete Ave, The Matadors, Trole and The Black Donnellys.
