William Blake once penned "No bird Soars too high if he soars with his's own wings..", and this comment reigns true to the fledgling band AOF. They are self written, promoted and produced and within the past year of playing rigorously across northern England, building up a solid base of friends, fans and like-minded bands to play with they now seek to expand the institution they are still striving to create with the release of their debut self titled E.P. set for release in October '07.
Michael and Luke started the band in a bedroom playing with ideas they discovered while still learning to play their instruments, as sketchy as these initial sessions were the live-favourite song 'sustain' was born. After the seeds of these ideas had been planted Liam and Jonny joined the band and launched AOF's songwriting far away from the months of jamming that had predecessed. Before they knew it they were playing their first support slot at a sold-out local gig opening for two function bands to an audience who were largely inattentive.
Now though, with more experience on their side they are able to keep writing songs, to keep playing to the people who were there from the start and those who are just discovering and to keep pushing themselves to create bigger and better things.
Independence is essential to AOF's song writing and pigeonholing their genre is difficult. AOF aren’t for the masses nor for the cults. AOF are for the fans.
A huge thanks goes out to Linda Till without whom we would not have been able to play the last few gigs, you can see her in her perform in the play
