Biography
Utilizing the energy of Usher, the breathy soul of Brian McKnight, the lyricism of Stevie Wonder, and the multifaceted production style of Timbaland, SolAce's sophomore effort, "RedempXn (Redemption)," boldly exemplifies the title it has been given! From the onset of his second project, SolAce uses the title track to not only reintroduce himself as a premiere Chicago talent (singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, and actor) but display the musical intensity and added depth to which this project delves.
With the introductory title track, touting a hardcore beat that could easily be used for a Hip-hop anthem, SolAce initiates a 14-track journey which seamlessly guides the listener from club-hopping R&B delights, such as "In the Club II: Move!" and "Southern Style" to sentimental wonders such as the lush "BAby GirL" and the sultry "Prelude-2-A-Kiss," to the stirring passion of "Remembrance (Memoria)," and the Caribbean flavors of "DanceHallology" and the socially conscious "Slow Song."
When compared to his first project, it is immediately evident that "RedempXn" finds SolAce at the helm of a musical growth that is hoped to affirm his rise to international notoriety. As such, "RedempXn" has already begun to garner SolAce musical accolades such as being a "Songwriter of the Month" in the VH1 2006 Song and Lyric Competition, receiving an "Excellence" honor for the 2006 Song of the Year Competition, being a UniSong International Songwriting Competition Finalist, and being personally featured in Chicago's Hyde Park Herald newspaper.
In its simplicity, though, SolAce's sophomore effort is a project that will make you dance, ponder, dream, cry, love, and grow in the faith of a brighter tomorrow. With its unforgettable melodies, "RedempXn" truly finds SolAce on the next musical level of his artistic progression and places him on the path to stardom!
Before RedempXn
Born in Belize City, Belize on February 24th, SolAce's love of music began with classical piano lessons at the age of seven, on the South Side of Chicago, IL. There he went on to perform in numerous recitals and win various Gold and Silver Level Awards for his performances of Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin. Attending Morehouse College with a Presidential Scholarship later nourished his song-writing ability, which has led to the creation of 218 compositions, and the release of two studio-recorded projects: "SolAce" and "RedempXn."
Seizing every opportunity to entertain thereafter, SolAce has performed with the Morehouse College Glee Club, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, was a dancer for the Super Bowl XXXIV Half-Time Show, has been a keyboardist and lead singer with the Caribbean Castaways and Nelson Gill and the Caribbean Rhythm Band, singing at numerous venues in the Chicago land and surrounding areas, and has gone on to win the "R&B Top Performer Award" at the New York International Music Festival for his shows throughout New York City and Las Vegas, Nevada.
SolAce's songs have also appeared on mainstream Chicago radio, the Oasis Urban: volume 4 Street & Soul Sampler, Raysmix Records' CD RAM Vol. 4, the independent movie Sweet Lov'n, the Elma and Company show, SBS Records' 2003 compilation, and has won him the "Honor Award" in the Great American Song Contest and the "Semi-Finalist" ranking within the John Lennon Song Writing Competition.
