About Me

(The music selections above are samples of projects I engineered. It's NOT my music!)

Rob is an audio engineer and a classically-trained musician with a passionate interest in jazz. He holds a Masters Degree in Audio Engineering from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in percussion from James Madison University in Virginia.
Active as a drummer in the jazz scenes in both the Shenandoah Valley and Baltimore for many years, Rob has been fortunate to collaborate with a vast array of musicians like Gary Thomas, Michael Formanek, John D'earth, and Howard Curtis. Now focused on recording, Rob's years behind the set translate into frequent praise from musicians for his ability to hear the music from their point of view.
Rob is currently based in Washington, DC and is a broadcast and music engineer at National Public Radio. His time at NPR has allowed him to work on sessions with an incredibly diverse list of musicians - Edgar Meyer, The Donnas, Erik Friedlander, Pat Metheny, Oneida, Jason Vieaux, The Duhks, Lang Lang, Rachel Barton-Pine, Terence Blanchard, Joshua Bell, The Mountain Goats, Placido Domingo, The Hackensaw Boys, Ralph Towner, Academy of Ancient Music, and Bonnie Raitt to name a few!
He is also on the audio post-production staff at Post-Op Media, LLC where he has worked on material for the National Geographic Channel, the Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet.
His interests venture beyond the studio walls! Rob is an avid cyclist, always striving to raise his cadence and lower his heart rate (it's just an excuse to eat like he has a hole in his stomach). He cycled across the country in 2004 with Hopkins 4k for Cancer. If Rob's not in the studio he's either out on the road or he's at home taking apart a bike... and trying to remember how to put it back together...
Rob is focused on capturing high-quality acoustic recordings of jazz and classical music in the studio or at your performance. His knowledge of music and enthusiasm for the art of recording results in a transparent, worry-free recording process!
