WEIRD MYSTERY!!!
WHO IS WEIRDFREAK?

...and where does he come from?

Weirdfreak is Riku Ruohomäki (Riksa to his friends), a nice Finnish guy, who's been drawing since early childhood and making computer graphics since he was 12 years old. He lives with his girlfriend Heli and has a cat named Lola.
Besides movies and music, Riksa enjoys computer games. Preferred genres are survival horror, modern 1st person shooters and old school platformers, shoot'em ups and beat'em ups. Riksa also likes any game that has "Metal Gear", "Resident Evil", "Tenchu", "Tekken", "Doom" or "Final Fantasy" in it's title. As much as Riksa enjoys playing 1st person shooters, he sucks at playing them online...
Other than that, that's about all there is to know about him, besides his images. Don't they say that one picture is worth a thousand words? Here's a lot of words, then...
Give me a pen, a paper pad, a few hours
of free time and I'll make wonders.
Give me a fast PC with Photoshop installed,
a Wacom tablet and a good scanner and a few
more hours and I'll rock your world!

WEIRD ASCENSION TO GREATNESS!

n00b no more

I have taken great steps to improve myself and to seek enlightment. My greatest goal in life now is not to be a n00b. That is progress, since in my past life, I've never even taken that into consideration. nOOb or n00b, is short for newbie, a newcomer, ie. a person who's new to something, like user groups, internet or computers. It is often written with two zeros in the middle, which is the nerds equivalent of a heavy umlaut used in heavy metal band names. The object in both is the same, to give the user a heightened ego, and, in many cases, some sense of belonging, being part of an elite group.
To help me on my quest, you should read my irony-free blog about the subject, and give me as many kudos as you possibly can. Tell your friends to come here too, and bring other people with them, all giving me kudos.

WEIRD SPANGLISH!

Ever tried one of those Babelfish translation machines? No, I'm not referring to the fish you stick into your ear in the book "The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy", im referring to the internet translation machine. Try it! But a word of caution: the results may vary.

WEIRD SCANDAL!

Troy McLure sleeps
with the Pisces!

I'm a big fan of the Simpsons. I used to record the episodes from TV to VHS tapes, and still do. If there's half an hour or little less space following a movie, an episode of Simpsons goes there well.
Recently, there's been a flux of DVD boxes of old and new TV shows hitting the stores. SInce I started buying them, I've been able to tape over episodes of Alias, 24, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel. I also bought the first season package of the Simpson creator Matt Kroening's (sadly) canceled animated scifi parody show, Futurama. I've watched several episodes of Buffy and Angel with my girlfriend, sometimes even enjoying a weekend Angel marathon (I've also enjoyed other kinds of marathons with my girlfriend, but that's none of your business, thank you!)
DVD is one of the greatest inventions of mankind, ever! Even more important than fire (although, I do enjoy my food being cooked).
Sadly there's too much Simpson's episodes out there, and a lot of money is being spend on other DVD's already. So, if anyone would be willing to give me a donation of a very large sum of money, to make my DVD collection up to the standards of a serious (and filthy rich) collector, please contact me. I assure you, it's for a good cause...

WEIRD SOUNDS
AND FREAKY NOISES!

Witnesses are talking about
hearing music!

Im currently listening to Poisonblack . A great Finnish band. Their sound is best described as melancholy, melodic metal. Their singer, Ville Laihiala (ex-Sentenced) has a great voice for this kind of music. Check them out at http://www.myspace.com/officialpoisonblack
Another finnish band I'm currently interested in is Manzana ( http://www.myspace.com/manzanaband ). I just heard one of their songs on MTV's Headbangers Ball, propably heard parts of the song last Sunday. Nice chorus, although not overtly metal. I mean, the same chorus might just as well work arranged to a 70's disco song, and no-one would know any different. But a good song is a good song. The band has a female vocalist with a nice voice. Have to check them out. Maybe their whole album is as good as this song. UPDATE! I listened... MANZANA ROCKS!

NOT EXACTLY METAL
BUT ROCKS!

In a WEIRD way...

One band I like alot, which is not exactly metal, but rather goes under the very broad category "Rock" music, is Passionworks . I like the band alot, and was very pleased by their announcement, that they offered one of their new songs, "Liar" free to download. A great song.
The band can be reached at http://www.myspace.com/pwsmusic
Besides metal, there's various styles of music I'm interested in. Some bands/artists I've found on myspace and liked, include:
Drop Dead Genius
Smeff

WEIRD RECOMMENDATION:
FADEOUT!

THE BAND YOU NEVER
HEARD ABOUT!
(BUT YOU WILL...)

I once got a friend request from a band called Fadeout.
I went to their site, listened to their songs, and was instantly blown away!
Rock. Metal. Melodies. Soft pop tunes seamlessly transforming to rock singing and sometimes even into angry metal/hardcore growls. Lyrics about mature themes, like human relationships. This band has it all!
Now the band is past the demo/promo stage. There's an album about to hit the stores soon!
For a sneak preview, listen to the new song "Keep Me On the Otherside" on their myspace.
Here's what I had to say about it:

Listening to the new track "keep me on the otherside". Great metal riff at the beginning, which makes for an even greater surprise when the softer vocals start. Just the right balance with beauty and aggression! Your band sounds like it's about to make it big. Really big! It's just a question of right marketing.
There's also some new elements to your music now, complimentary of the higher production values. THIS ROCKS! 10/10! Two thumbs up! Any f'ing cliche there is, it's true!
Can't wait for the album release!

NEWS ABOUT RIKSA!

HE'S GOING BACK 2 SCHOOL!

A few months ago, Riksa made a board game played with dice, as a pre-assignment for a school he was applying to. Based on the assignment, the final applicants were chosen for an exam. The game was a treasure hunt diving game for the whole family, where the players are constantly robbing each other. According to Riksa, the game teaches children all the necessary skills they need to get by in life. What the game does not teach, is political correctness. Riksa has never really cared for politics, anyway.
Sources confirm that Riksa got qualified to take part in the exam, where creativity and English skills are tested.
Riksa says he knows nothing about the English, and will fail miserably. He'll still do his best.
The exam is next Monday. Riksa promises to keep us posted.
Here's the shark pic again.

WEIRD NEWS FROM
THE STATES!

THEY WANT TO BAN

INTERNET RADIO

ACT NOW !!f you live in the US and listen to Web Radios, or if you listen to US based web radios, then this is the time for ACTION. We need to stop the thread to free culture and easy access to art and creativity.Check this site, DO SOMETHING ! http://www.savenetradio.org/

IMPORTANT! BEWARE OF MALICIOUS ADVERTS!!

Change passwords!

I just went and changed my passwords. There's a lot of malicious people prowling the myspace. Read Tom's blogs (admin). Always check twice before typing anything on a window, especially your login or your password.
If you are sending people posts you know you haven't actually sent, the chances are, you have been attacked by a person phishing for passwords. That person now has total access to your page, and is sending spam from your site. To fight back, change your password. Fast! Before they start making changes on your site code. Like somebody did to me. A lot of stuff went up in air, just like that. Pooof!
There's some people lurking about, and they can even appear to be legit myspace staff. They can camouflage a page to look just like a real myspace login window. Check twice before typing anything on a window. The address bar should have the text "myspace.com". If there's something different, close the window. Fast!
One trick I found about, which has been used on a lot of pages, is stretching an invisible gif image all over your profile, surrounded by link tags. If your page is taking you anywhere else besides your own page, when people are clicking on your contact box, remove the code from your profile, then save the changes. The offending code may look something like this (the part I've high-lighted)
Lets take myspace back from these BASTARDS!
I'm really sorry about the spam
sent from my profile...
:(

WEIRD SECURITY ISSUES!?!?

Answer's from a real ninja!

If you're having questions about why Myspace is not working the way it should, you should get your answers from an un-official source, who tells it like it is. Well, here's one source...
There's a certain burnt pickle, who goes by the name of LoLo. Read the blogs at LoLo's page , to know what's really going on. That should get you started on your road to enlightenment. To know the truth about script kiddies, myspace security issues, hackers, phishers, tracker programs, learn from a true master.
Thanks LoLo. You've saved my hide a couple of times, too. You're a real master ninja.

WEIRD RECOMMENDATION!

Great site found!

If you wanna visit the Heavy Metal Heaven, you don't have to travel far. You only need to visit http://www.myspace.com/keithfinal . For all things metal, click on the banner below

WEIRD MISTAKE!
ROCK ROOSTER IS OK!

Riksa apologizes.
They really had technical difficulties!

Usually, when you see an un-wanted login window appear on your profile, it's a bad sign. This time, it was a case of an honest mistake. Sometimes when you write html, and you use a picture that is on your own server, you may have forgotten to set the user priviledges the right way. Hence, you get a login window, when you try to access the page. When I see a login window on a page, I take it as a bad sign. This time it was just a human error. My mistake (and theirs)
But the problem is now solved. Everythings fine: Rock Rooster is ready to go. Rock Rooster is a new internet TV broadcaster that's about to start their business, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Their big date is June 15th 2007!
They are interested in giving an outlet for un-signed bands and indepent video producers to have their work shown for the public.
Weirdfreak welcomes them!
I created my own myspace layout using the tools found at nUCLEArcENTURy.COM , then tweaked the code alot. They're all right. Their code engine isn't perfect, though. I wish my site looked the same on Firefox (my preferred browser), but I'll just have to settle for IE, for the time being...
Here's a spoof animation I've been a part of. It was a group effort, story written by Joni Männistö. If some of us animators had any ideas on how to improve it, Joni was kind enough to have some of those added. Thanks to Joni for giving me permission to post this. This was made at Satakunta Institute Of Arts and Crafts (Satakunnan käsi- ja taideteollisuusoppilaitos, SKTO). I still haven't gotten around to adding the subtitles, so it is in finnish language only. Sorry about that.

WEIRD ARTISTS!

Myspace is a good place to find like minded people, new bands and visual artists. I've found many whose work has left me in awe with their talent. Here's one of the better ones.

And finally...

WEIRD VOTE FOR
RON PAUL!

I'm like, totally gonna vote for you...

Ron Paul is one of the finest persons I've never met. But I'd really like to. And he's my friend. I'm like, totally gonna vote for him.

And he even sent me a comment. Could he be any more cuddly? I think not. I wanna vote ya. Where do I sign?

Oh, I have to be a U.S. citizen? No biggie... Paul, dude. Could ya help me out a little? Oh, you'd have to be the President. OK, let's make a deal. I'll vote ya, and you give me the citizenship. Oh, you'd have to be the Prez first. Um... Never mind.

Ron doesn't like George W. Bush. Slightly mis-quoting the Bishop android from the movie Aliens:"Not bad... for a republican."
