About Me

Maria saw her first daylight somewhere in the early eighties in the eastern part of the Netherlands. She has started singing at a young age during musicals in highschool. Currently studying a Master Culture Management at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) but developing her musical talent by taking singing classes and playing guitar. Writes her own lyrics and writes/records songs with a professional musician/producer. Recently won a singing contest (Open Podium Twente 2006, NL) where judges praised her voice and said it was like she had lived a life on stage. After graduating next summer she wants to find a balance between singing and working at the other side of music; as a marketing pro @ a record label.

Influences: Inspired by people like Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, Sarah McLachlan, Bonnie Raitt, Ilse de Lange, James Taylor, Beth Hart, Antony and the Johnsons, Sarah Bettens, Damien Rice, Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy.....as in; loads of different people and different styles. But all people who make music from the heart.

I Cry NEW

Balance between heart and mind

The gig for the Rabobank in Hengelo (NL) last monday was awesome...Big stage, beautiful sound, great musician by my side.Felt like home!The CEO from the bank said he felt honored I performed...
