Born in Lisbon city, Portugal, in 1981, Luis Baptista aka DJ Nox
revealed very early a huge interest for electronic music and everything else
related to it.
In 2000, at early age of 19, he starts playing music
professionally in a local discotheque called Carvoaria where he held the
deserved title of resident Dj for the next two years.
As he started
growing in his career and present his individual skills some other remarkable
nightclubs required his presence and performance in special occasions, so he
could during this period define his well known reputation as the youngest best
dj in the surrounds.
Nox had the opportunity to share experiences
with other well known national djs such as: Dj Vibe, Redkone, Abe Duque [USA], Luca Ricci [ITA], Silicone Soul, Pete Tha Zouk, DJ Jiggy, Carlos
Manaça, XL Garcia, Miss Sheila, Mário Roque, Luis and Paulo Leite, Frank Maurel, Dezperados, Oskar.dj, Pedro Gil, Jay Lopez, Del Costa & Mc Johny Deef, Jay Rick, Dj Toka (En), Michal (Pl), Di Simmon, Riccardo Britto, Miss Blondie,
Joanna Pinho, Paul Rodhy, among others.
Summer of 2003, his
presence is well noticed when performing at Lisboa Parade and Love
Boat.
Summer of 2004, Luis Baptista holds the first place on the annual
contest for the Best UpComing Dj 2003/2004.
April 2005, for the first
time abroad its now in Poland where he plays 2 gigs in Lublin, Club Obsession
and Bar Hollywood Café, impressing everybody with is very personal style and
great musical taste.
Summer of 2005, he plays in the 2nd
edition of Lisboa Parade and right after, together with DJ Dominguez
releases his first production of a remix/bootleg called Portishead VS The
Veils The Leavers Roads, a hit that stroke many dance floors in Portugal
and around the Globe, appeared on a current TV show called +Noite and is
currently playing @ Mix FM radio station, Radio nove3cinco and Nova Era. The
release in vinyl is coming very soon!
This project is called Urban Duo
and its simultaneous a Dj/Producer project.
October 2005, another big
event takes place this time organized by Discoteca Karma together with StiloDj.
A competition on a national level gathered together 36 Djs where only one could
be the winner. Dj Nox qualified for the first cut with an amazing score of
28 points that leaded him for a semi final where he again qualified, this time
in the first place scoring 30 points (maximum). A week later, the big Final
battled between the 4 best made national news, where once again Dj Nox taking a
good advantage of his recognized dj gift, played an amazing set and ended up
getting the maximum score guarantying his well deserved position on the first
place mauking him the Champion DJ in Portugal.
To end 2005 Nox
was nominee for the category of Barreiro Best Dj 2005 winning the title, one
more time he proved that is talent and strength will make it all and 2005
couldnt end up better for our new champion.
This young DJ distinguishes himself for his
superb technique and his refined musical taste, always improving his amazing
performances going from the Electro and Deep House to a more Organic and
Progressive style.
At the moment Nox is the resident Dj at Club DNA and
Estúdio 132.
