My Mum told me I was related to Sir Joshua Reynolds who was the first Prez in the Royal Academy of Art. So I guess my passion for art runs on my Mother's side and the passion for Brooklyn on my Father’s.I moved out to New York because of my UK/US dual citizenship and lived in Brooklyn for seven years with my lovely Wife Karyn. We recently moved back to the UK having gotten home sick and in much need of a British Humour boost.my artwork was/is and always will be my first passion. The ‘other’ expression Split is where I’ve immersed myself in the various points of Hip Hop Culture since 1983, through Graffiti, B-Boying and DJing both in the UK and US. I’ve also been documenting by Photography, Sketchbooks/artwork and memorabilia.What a nerd.Before I moved to the States and In an attempt to bring all the elements of Hip hop together and promote Home grown talent, I started a Hip Hop night in Portsmouth (UK) called The 'GO-Off'. I also Dj'ed/Hosted various Pirate Radio stations shows for about 8 years, called the ‘Infamous Rap show’ and ‘The True skool Rap show’.For me there's nothing like NYC Hip Hop, and like any Hip Hop obsessed brit and aging B-Boy I soaked it all up. Enjoying the history (still often untapped) and going bonkers unearthing the roots, Myths and (subconsciously) the essence. At the same time i got allot of my Competitiveness of my chest entering Battles, B-Boy, Rocking and Graff. Last but not least, being able to survive and Maintain in New York City.Back in the UK A big influence on my music taste was Break DJ Leacy (Rest in Peace Jim) and his brother Aiden who I met in 1995, and having met the brothers and becoming great friends made it more of a priority to play for B-Boys and Dancers. For over 5 years I Dj’ed in the Brooklyn/Queens Dollar jam with my partner Brooklyn’s Legendary “King Uprock”. We organized regular B-Boy battles attracting the Best B-Boys/Girls, Lockers, Poppers and Rockers from all over the US. It was a blessing to see pioneers show their support like Africa Bambaataa, Special K of the Treacherous 3, Buddy ESQ, Cosmo D, Martha Cooper, Fable (RSC), Fast Break of Magnificent force, Clarky, K-won, Buzz from Touch of Rock, Frosty Freeze (RSC), Kid Freeze, Ken Swift (RSC), Bobbitto Garcia, Pioneering Uprockers from the Late 60’s/early 70’s and even gangs from Bushwick The Unknown Bikers, The Devils Rebels and the Savage Samurais. I Became part of ‘Sounds of Dynasty” Sound system, Click Here established in Bushwick Brooklyn 1973 and learned the art of Uprocking from King Uprock. I Slowed down on the dance tip after a knee op, probably from B'Boyin' (and Martial Arts) over the years. I Dj’ed in many Battles, BBoy events and Jams all Over NYC and the USA. My wife Karyn won the 30th Dynasty rockers anniversary battle and became a Dynasty Rocker (I’m a very proud hubby). She was already a B-Girl in Brooklyn's B.I.S. and was a battle monster for a while.I also got the chance to Paint with many Legendary NYC writers like Duro, Jamestop, Stayhigh to name a few. (Big up Ziggy). Whilst on crutches from Knee surgery I painted a 90 ft piece in the the LPAC center in the Bronx. took bloody ages! Through a mutual passion for comics I became good friends with Buddy esq the legendary Hip Hop flyer king, hangin’ out in the Bronx , Block parties and Park Jams (timeless!)This was the same year I witnessed the tragedy of 9/11 ...
