More than a standard World Music band, Takalo is the encounter between two artists : Mbolatiana ,a Malagasy singer and Patrick Rinino an Eurasian musician. Patrick's music and Mbolatiana's lyrics naturally tuned up into an interesting melting pot which is the result of their own musical influences.Both of them were impregnated with a jazz background. Patrick is a self-taught bass player, he performed on stage with several musicians and artists such as Tony Allen, Didier Sustrac, Elizabeth Caumont and lately Tupy Nago.His work is the outcome of different influences such as African, Brasilian rhythms and English Pop music.As for Mbolatiana the diva of Malagasy jazz (to pronounce Boolatin which means ''loved again'')she was born in a family of musicians, charmed the audience in a number of music festivals. She was asked to sing the anthem of the ''Francophonie'' games in 1997,in 1999 she performed at the well known French songs festival ''Francofolies'' and at Antananarivo's concert Hall where she approached the French repertoire for the very first time , in a duet with Jean-Jacques Goldman she sang the song ''je te donne''.Mbolatiana has been living in France for four years, Patrick and her have made up a remarkable duo with the richness of their musical background and a perfect symbiosis : Takalo.
