Please check out my web site at: www.scotaylor.com.
I have been playing music since I was eight, starting out on Saxophone and switching to drums at fourteen. I have played on numerous bands demos, as well as paid recording sessions. I have performed at hundreds of venues and have made music my life. The love of music and the love of performing well to an appreciative audience are what drives me.
I play with an infectious enthusiasm for the song and the beat. I play for the song with dynamic sensitivity, power, confidence and authority. I know how to drive a band and make it feel good. I have extensive experience writing drum parts for and arranging and recording original material. I read drum charts, understand theory, play guitar and play all drumming styles. I have over twenty years of playing experience; both live and in the studio (mostly live).
In various bands I have shared the stage as an opening act with many notable players both famous and not so famous.
I have served as backup for Lydia Pense during her time away from Cold Blood and played with many other less well-known but notable musicians. Formerly with The Unauthorized Rolling Stones, REK, Threshold, The Clue, Critical Mass etc.
Major Influences:
John Bonham, Ringo Starr, Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell, Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Jim Keltner, Jim Capaldi, Keith Moon, Kenny Aronoff, Stewart Copeland, Zigaboo Modeliste, Tommy Aldridge, Simon Kirke, Bill Ward, John Densmore, Art Blakey, Neil Peart, Jonathon Mover, Jeff Campitelli, Stanton Moore, Narada Michael Walden, Richard Bailey, Jan Uvena (Alcatrazz, Alice Cooper), Dierks Dieter (Accept), among many others.
Personal teacher/drummer influences:
Paul DeMark (formerly w/ Paul Butterfield), Michael Curran (Jazz great w/ Equinox featuring Francis Vanek), Paul Spina of Reggae locals Groundation (formerly w/ Les Claypool).
With the sudden demise of Critical Mass I bounced straight into The Linda Ferro Band (Jazzy Blues) on the recommendation of producer/engineer (M.Rennick @ Prairie Sun). I am also doing a Dio tribute called Lock up the Wolves and a hard rockin' blues project. I am a road ready pro, dedicated and want to play. Please contact me.
