About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

I'm the author of BEEN THERE, DONE THAT and GETTING WARMER , both from Berkley/Penguin. My first young adult novel, SWITCH, will be published by HarperCollins in 2008. I have wanted to write novels for years, but I held back because "novelist" sounded as out-of-reach as "superhero." You can read more about my books on my website, www.carolsnow.com
BEEN THERE, DONE THAT (Aug. 2006) follows the adventures of Kathy Hopkins, a young-looking 32-year-old reporter who goes undercover at a small New England college to investigate a prostitution ring. Publishers Weekly called it a “humorous, wise debut.” Even cooler, the book is referenced under both “Clay Aiken” and “prostitution.” You don’t see that every day.
In GETTING WARMER (Jan. 2007), Natalie Quackenbush is approaching thirty, drowning in debt – and did she mention she lives with her parents? To let off steam, she and her friends, all teachers in Scottsdale, AZ, go clubbing at night and tell outlandish tales to strangers – which is all good fun until she finds herself falling for a man who believes she’s someone else. The nice people at Booklist called GETTING WARMER “absolutely delightful,” and Romantic Times named it a Top Pick. ..

My Interests

I am a cat fanatic; my obsession with my "first child," Cecil, borders on unnatural -- especially since I suspect I'm allergic to him. (I won't get the test; some things are better left unknown.) I love to cook; hate to clean. I've always spent hours staring into space, but now that I'm a professional writer, I can call that "working."

I'd like to meet:

Other writers and readers

Music:

I mostly like Power Pop and "happy" alternative rock: The Pushstars, Bowling for Soup, Fountains of Wayne, OK GO, Carbon Leaf, Lily Allen, and my new favorite, Eric Hutchinson.

Movies:

I love quirkly comedies. All time favorite: "Hear My Song." Seriously: it is the best movie you've never seen. I also loved "Simply Ballroom," which is kind of like "Dirty Dancing" on LSD; "Billy Elliot"; "The Commitments." Movies that the critics loved and I hated: "The English Patient"; "The Bridges of Madison County." I hated the books, too.

Television:

I held off on TiVo for a long time because I was afraid I'd watch too much TV. I was right. My lineup: "Entourage"; "Project Runway"; "The Office"; "Medium"; "The Daily Show," and the inevitable "American Idol." I also love "The Real Housewives of Orange County," but I hate myself for loving it. But, hey -- ya gotta keep up with the neighbors.

Books:

I read far too much; just ask my eye doctor. Some recent favorites: The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell; Little Children by Tom Perrotta; A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon; The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini; The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski; and pretty much anything by Elinor Lipman.
