As an enthusiastic aspiring, San Jose, California native Janiah Bluenote has been developing her gifts and talents in the R&B/Neo-Soul arena since she was 5 years old. Her story begins when the awe inspiring talent, unlike the others in her elementary choir class, was discovered by the music director. Growing up Janiah was influenced by the music around her home. Whether it was Etta James, Chaka Khan or The Temptations, I’m sure you get the picture, this Soul Child was in the works! Janiah began to get more involved in the business end of things as she ventured into a trio R&B group that did some great things in a short period. She began to write and collaborate with various producers in the industry such as Preston Glass who has credits on early Whitney Houston albums. While her gift began to shine bright as she naturally improvised dramatic lyrical expressions she continued to attract influential musicians that wanted nothing more than to get her to collaborate on their projects. Although inspired along the way by some of the more recent greats such as Alicia Keyes, Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, and many more Janiah has also expressed herself as a smooth jazz artist, when she collaborated on Saxophonist Spencer Sherrod’s CD and performed with him at the Fujitsu & JVC Jazz Festivals as well as the Crocker Art Museum where she also did some Alicia Keyes and Mary J numbers with his band. With ease and love from the crowds she brought down the house! She then made an investment and obtained her Degree with honors in Business. She knows the reality of life and that music is a Business. As she continued to perform and maintain Honor Student grades in College she endeavored to work on her first CD. Simultaneously, she joined forces with the “Inner Soul Music†production team on the East Coast, and began to write and record. Yes college on the west Coast and Studio productions on the East! Degree now in hand she is looking toward the future with the Inner Soul Music Productions. Musically she will continue to broaden her talent and delve deeper into the fundamentals and theories of music. Although she’s been influenced by the greats of a few generations of old, she continues to keep up if not pioneering the way into the future of music!
