Stephen began his musical career performing in piano bars on the East Coast. He moved to Los Angeles to accept a writer/reporter position with Star Magazine. In 2000, sticking to a timetable he had set himself, he left to pursue a full-time career as a composer, writer, and producer.
As a composer he's written jingles and scored a number of films, including Brian To's Award-winning "Audit," as well as, the comedy spoof "The Helix Loaded," starring Vanilla Ice. His music can also be heard in the film "Mini's First Time," starring Alec Baldwin and Nikki Reed, as well as, "Slingshot," starring David Arquette and Balthazar Getty.
For television, Stephen wrote the theme and underscores for Discovery Channel's Emmy Award-winning "The Christopher Lowell Show," and served as the head writer and segment producer for three seasons of the series. He also wrote the music for the one-hour special "Cruisin' With Christopher" for the Travel Channel.
In addition, he wrote, scored, and produced the documentary film "Translating Wonder," directed by Mirai Konishi. The documentary recounts Japanese writer/translator Keiko Kamito's personal journey, as she celebrates the life and works of the late American environmentalist, Rachel Carson.
Stephen holds a BA in Music from Temple University. He has studied composition and theory with Julliard's David Sokoloff, Emmy-winning composer Billy Goldenberg, and attended UCLA's Film Scoring Program. He's also lectured as a visiting artist at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
Most recently Stephen composed music for a series of Public Service Announcements for the L.A. Metro Task Force on Human Trafficking, directed by Brian To. Additionally, he just completed scoring a number of short films, including "The Relationship Theorem," "Simon," "American Sinner," "Voodoo Love," and the devilishly fun, "Lucifer Loves Roast Beef."
