My Interests

I like traveling to new countries and the West coast, etc. yoga, health - interested in alternative therapies such as herbal remedies, veggie cooking or raw preparations, Sufism, Zen, being Here now, people, books, flowers - both picking and arranging in cool ways, hiking, biking, camping, swimming in natural settings, investigating new places, surfing the net for interesting stuff like the Mayan civilizations, Mt. Shasta, Be-ing with yogis such as Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Adyashanti and Mukti, Llewellyn, and other self-realized masters, my friends, my Australian Shepherd and 2 cats, family, dancing - contra & free form, art - both creating and viewing, decaf soy lattes, and much, much more... I volunteer for the Isha yoga foundation and I'm interested in their development as well as other yoga organizations to hike up the vibe in the US.

I'd like to meet:

Fellow yogis/yoginis, vegetarians, nature loving tree huggers, artists, writers, musicians, environmentalists, and camping, hiking, kyaking people, animal lovers, people lovers, Sufi lovers, ordinary people, meditators, chanters, people who are here to make a difference, or who are the difference by simply Being... You name it!

Music:

I like sooo much! I like the hippi music of the 60's & 70's, like CSN&Y, the 80's, Bluegrass, musicals, opera, celtic, old gospel, classical piano, NPR, symphony, cello, Native American flute, Indian drumming, chanting - Krishna Das, Bhagavan Das, etc.

Movies:

Enchanted April, Never Ending Story, Star Wars(the old ones before Jarjar), The Lord of the Rings, Contact, A River Runs through it, Pride & Prejudice - the A&E version, Garden of Good & Evil, Wizard of Oz, Hamlet (Mel G. version), Harry Potter (hey! I do teach kids!), Raising Arizona, Clue, Fried Green Tomatoes, Crouching Tiger...

Television:

I don't watch lots, but here's some of my old-time favorites... Are You Being Served?, Sherlock Holmes - with Jeremy Brett, Ms. Marple, Sex in the City, Northern Exposure, MASH, Seinfeld, Monk, Matlock, Andy Griffith, Gilmore Girls, AbFab, Whose Line is it, Anyway?, 30-Something,

Books:

I got a BA in English lit, so I have a hard time picking favorites. In the past I read lots of eclectic stuff like Salaman Rushdie, Carle G. Jung, Emily Bronte, Shakespeare, etc. Then about 8 yrs. ago I started reading Ramana Maharshi, Rumi, LLewellyn, Swami Satchidananda, Mrs. Tweedie, Osho, etc. Now for the first time in my life I really don't read books often, though I do occassionally delve into my Discover magazine and online things I'm interested in - like eco-housing!

Heroes:

I'm not really into elevating one individual over another, but there are many who have positively influenced my life, so...here goes: Swami Satchidananda, my 5th grade teacher- Mrs. Lina Miller - the only teacher who challenged me, Adyashanti & Mukti, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Ramana Maharishi, Krishna Das, Karen Blixen, Georgia O'Keefe, Jane Goodall, etc. any highly aware and adventurist individual who has made a change for the better in this world in which we live!
