Torto O.G. was the first rapper in Bari to gather a paying public for a hip hop gig in ´92, as Acid G. Born in the popular neighbourhood called Libertá (Freedom)in Bari, deep southern Italy, he approached music in the early ´85, playing the bass guitar in the psychedelic hip hop band called Saturnalia. Saturnalia was a multiform project, which collected any kind of sound from around the world. The sound-system was very powerfull and the band was able to work with artist such as Foozzstone and Stomac Mouth. Saturnalia featured on the guitar Torto´s brother, now known as Reverendo.
In the early ´90ies, in the years called "della Pantera" (of the panter, year in which, along with the student protest, students became awared of their power inside the University structure and they began using the academic building as a venue for concerts, as a dance-hall, as a place to make and promote Italian Hip Hop) he started to sing in small parties. At first he was snubbed by other hip hop musician, as he was always the youngest and because one of his particular sign was his long, black air.
In ´92 Torto made his first gig as Zona 45, with Miselecta, Reverendo and DJ Arpino.
This was his debut. From this moment on, he never stopped. He released 2 records with Zona 45 ("uomo di fine millennio" Right Tempo-"30 denari"Souni di strada/Good Stuff), he is one of the founder member of La Pooglia tribe("Cime di rap" Spaghetti Funk), he played with some of the biggest name in the hip hop world, as De La Soul, Roots, Menelik, Asian Dub Foundation, not to mention Nicola Conte and italian bands as Sud Sound System and Articolo 31.
He is now working on his latest release with La Pooglia Tribe (coming soon!) and he is also keeping up with his project with Zona 45 , which also features his brother Reverendo.Ladies and gentleman, please get ready to enter the fantastic world of TORTO O.G.
