I can't explain it, the things you're saying to me / It's going yayayayayayaya, oh yeah

About Me

My website (new!): TheodoraMichaels.com .

I've never had a job that wasn't in music. While in school I worked summers and evenings and volunteered at music conventions to learn as much as I could. I've also had a great time playing in rock bands, most recently as bassist in Curse . NYC has so many talented songwriters and musicians, and I consider it an honor to have enjoyed their shows over the years and to count many of them as collaborators and friends.

Now, after about 19 years in the music industry, the past nine as an attorney with one of the world's largest independent music publishers, I've decided to start my own company to represent songs -- starting with those by my friends -- and promote them with the intensity, efficiency and honesty they deserve. I intend to work with, not against, new technologies; treat writers, artists, licensees and consumers with respect; and deal with third parties in a flexible and cooperative manner.

I'm still in the process of building the website for my company, Hevedburg Music , so if there's not much there yet, please check back. Thanks.

Latest news:

Hm, the latest news is that I just realized it's been a really long time since I updated this. And that MySpace has apparently started automatically deleting the word c-o-p-y-r-i-g-h-t?!?!?! Very odd. I emailed them and expect to get a useless automated reply shortly.

In actual news, John Waters has recorded the narration for The Wild World of Ted V. Mikels, produced by my husband Kevin Sean Michaels.

Vampira: The Movie has won a Rondo Award !

I'll be giving a talk ..right law as part of the Tolkien's Middle Earth program. Exact date, time and format are TBA, as well as whether I'll be wearing pointy ears during the talk. ;-) General convention info. at the Dragon*Con website and Dragon*Con MySpace .

I'd like to meet:

Someone to help me learn computer programming (XHTML, CSS, MySQL, phpMyAdmin). I'm totally new at this stuff.

Also, I could use some minions. Or henchmen. But preferably cute, not evil looking. Like maybe hedgehogs. I've got it -- henchhogs!
adopt your own virtual pet!
Random other info.:

This Vampira quiz is my first attempt at actual programming. It seems to be working! Try it out, there are quite a few possible outcomes, including special results if you put all true or all false.

You are Vonderfully Vampiric

Very impressive, dahling! Have you been going to night school to study Advanced Vampirology? If you keep up your studies you'll be a Famous Monster of Filmland in no time. Such depth of knowledge -- six feet to be exact -- must have been achieved over several centuries of study. I could use the services of a cool ghoul such as yourself, so stop by my attic any time. Just send me a note by messenger bat first, so I can have a fresh victim waiting for us.

This quiz brought to you by Vampira: The Movie , the new documentary by Kevin Sean Michaels starring Maila "Vampira" Nurmi, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Zacherley, Forrest Ackerman, and many more. Original score by Ari Lehman, the first Jason from Friday the 13th.

Music:

First I liked metal, then I liked punk, then I liked surf, now I like all kinds of different stuff. As long as it's not too slow -- I have no patience for slow music. Bach harpsichord concertos are probably the best things ever written. Either that or the Ramones' Blitzkreig Bop.

Movies:

Seven Samurai, A Beautiful Mind, Rain Man, Amadeus, March of the Penguins, Happy Feet, Midnight Cowboy, Taxi Driver, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Lord of the Rings, Rock 'n' Roll High School, This is Spinal Tap, Sid and Nancy.

Television:

I never watch TV.

Books:

Classic literature, Harry Potter, slogging my way through the Silmarillion. Non-fiction books on language, history and culture. And cookbooks!

Mahatma Gandhi , Tenzin Gyatso (14th Dalai Lama) , Lt. Ehren Watada , Lawrence Lessig , Marybeth Peters , Richard Branson , Derek Sivers , Brett Gurewitz , John Buckman , Richard Stallman , Ingrid Newkirk , Neal D. Barnard , Alan Kapuler , Frank Morton .
