About Me

Globalizing the world underground are the split atoms of Dubwise – Kable & CastroDubwise - the Legion Of DoomThe bona fide boycott of what should be heard, ingested and put on a pedestal is what sends these wildchilds into worlds previously unexplored (personally). With the small forces in mind – it provided the impetus the duo needed to reunite. After their first real collaboration in 2002 in a shoddy joint in which they were greeted to a circle-pit. They continued their bass encapsulated journey separately playing minor-major gigs, organising other deejays into reckless collectives and parties. Melodically assaulting revellers they continue to humanize the isolated genres of the music world.“Continually changing courses normally leads to a shipwreck, it’s the next best thing if you ask us!” - CastroThe inception of Dubwise in mid 2006 had people talking about it for days - Kable was clearing the land for a contemporary bass themed night, which included the new progeny of British underground music – Dubstep. This urban phenomenon is a hybrid of reggae, dub and UK garage, styles of music that were not commonly played in clubs here. The starkness was both now and tomorrow with it’s stripped down rhythmic base. Being championed all around the UK, from pirate radio shows to big club nights it pricked a select few who took notice of its raw environment and how it could be a redefining inspiration for the boozed up bore nights being thrown without any caution. This soon led to monthly installments of Dubwise, with credible local guests like the Guerrilla Collective, Wan Vegan founder of Straits Records and Redbull Music Academy attendee Vijay aka Sweetalker Sleepwalker all lending their hands in foundation of something fresh. While many denounced it be nova-like Kable trusted in his efforts in introducing a new sub-culture of bass. The spontaneous combustion between Kable and Castro is apparent. Their individual myriad of sounds somehow falls into perfect synchronism. Castro appeared as a guest first and then a resident in Dubwise at the now-defunct Cocco Latte, the resounding success encouraged the boys to take a bold step. They sought out producers and artists that proved their mettle to work with; accelerating the process was the depth of what technology had to offer and a chance meeting with New York native DJ Liondub, who is also a producer and has worked with many reggae greats in the past. This led to their collaboration with one of reggae’s inimitable icons - Johnny Osborne. In 2007, Dubwise took their sound from the club to the festival with performances at the Singapore leg of the Good Vibrations festival opening for the likes of Cut Copy, Cicada and Jurassic 5, and in the latter part of the year opening for hip hop luminaries Arrested Development during their one night stint here.Kable and Castro both with progressive music tastes, never content to be confined to one sound, one genre for long periods of time. No doubt Dubwise are purveyors of fine Jamaican music, but like an Attention Deficit Disorder, they want serve you everything they love listening to as well: Anything with HEAVY BASS!Their sets are an amalgamation of Baile Funk, Baltimore House, Bassline, Dancehall, Dubstep, Electro, Kuduro and Pop Mashups. Highly versatile and unpredictable, sober or drunk, this duo can rock any party.
