XS.ONE THE REGIMENT is a collective of hiphop enthusiasts and activists in the form of lyricists, emcees, poets, wordsmiths and musicians that come together with a common bond and direction namely towards the elevation of the positive aspects of hiphop and music in general.
Through diverse styles of lyricism and poetry, The.XS Collective offers to push the boundaries through experimental efforts but at the same time maintaining the very essence of their artform via traditional and puristic methodologies.
With a refined mentality of conscious hiphop, the collective attempts to portray a more positive outlook to a cultural artform often times tarnished with negative stereotypes.
By uplifting the poetic aspects of hiphop as an expressionists literary and performing arts, the collective is in itself a school of thought that is very much in line with less popular minority rap acts that some would label as backpack rap.
Formerly known as As.One The Regiment or As.One Family, the collective have been occasionally contributing to the regional SGHIPHOP circuit since 2000 through their ever-changing line-up of groups and individuals with performances and independent releases of recorded material.
By circa 2004-2005, several groups affiliated with the As.One Family either became defunct or just dissolved with time. Thus the collective suffered a blow of faded energy and enthusiasm but the movement carried on through the last remaining group of actively performing emcees namely X'Statix and Freaky-Z as well as the undying support from the less active members.
In the late 2005, a poetic hiphop unit called the X'Scapists was established to pay tribute to the dying As.One Family with an online single "The Requiem" which in turn breathed a new hope to their artistic activism. Thus the X'Scapists project along with the credibility and experience garnered from the likes of X'Statix and FreAkyZ, have now culminated into the reformation of the entire collective, now called XS.One The Regiment, also recognized as The.XS Collective.
With the rejuvenation of XS.One The Regiment, scattered lyrical minds regroup as a united nation of an elite force in rap. The.XS collective will continue to spread their movement through their music and propagation of their brand of hiphop and artistic activism.
Expansion of the line-up of groups, individuals and collaborative affiliates within the collective will constantly be in the works as induction of experience artists as well as fresh young talents will hopefully contribute to further expand their movement with a diverse pool of talents.
The.XS collective also plans to further expand their craft and movement via other forms of artistic expression such as literary works and visuals through arts and design.
The foundation of the collective still strongly revolves around poetry, lyricism, hiphop and music thus expect to hear more from XS.One The Regiment through various upcoming musical projects and collaborative efforts as well as live performances from groups and individuals from The.XS Collective.
Stand up and salute, we hope that this kind of truth, passion and sincerity resonates with our supporters and break barriers.
