The House of Anonymous's SIRENS is a project that is all about women ie their thoughts, expressions and actions. It is a collaborative ensemble of female artists, writers, performers and expressionists who have come together to celebrate women and their multi-faceted representations: the Eves (the beginning), the Gaias (the mother), the Aphrodite (the lover), the Isis (the partner) and the Kali (the destroyer). In fact, SIRENS is a celebration of the individuality in women. That is why every participant in the project represents herself in different styles and ways. It could be in the words, the art, the music or the thoughts. Basically, they are representing who they are; as women, and, more importantly, as individuals.
The SIRENS project that has come a long way since it was first embarked in October 2006. Truly, the reception that the project received when it was first unleashed over the internet was incredible. Floodgates of comments from women and men alike; mostly good, sometimes neutral, a few of them not too good. But one thing was echoed by all: They have anticipated for such a project to come to fruit, and when it finally did, it didn't take much to see (or in this case, hear) that SIRENS has the potential to realise itself as an important force to celebrate the female individuals of performance arts.
Yes, this is a project conceptualised by individuals from the often misunderstood hip hop genre. But SIRENS was not made to localise itself in one particular scene or one artistic discipline alone. SIRENS is a celebration of women, of individuality, of the arts. And thus SIRENS is extending its welcome to you, an individual and a woman in the arts.
