Theatre In The Pound is a monthly artslab/scratchnight run by the Cockpit Theatre in London.Pound is a not-for-profit night designed to provide an opportunity for individuals or groups of theatre practitioners to showcase or try out new work.With the audience entry fee at Â£1 per head, Theatre In The Pound is easily affordable to all. As well as welcoming theatre enthusiasts and practitioners through the doors, Pound is accessible to those who would not normally go to the theatre. Yes, Cockstock. That's the name for our mini monthly arts festival. It's like Woodstock, only at the Cockpit - and different in just about every other way too actually. But it's a good name.
Cockstock takes place during (roughly) the first week of every month and comprises:

Tuesdays - Theatre In The Pound Wednesdays - Cockpit Music Cult Thursdays- Emperors' New Shorts Fridays- Cockstockings Every month the Cockpit Theatre hosts a mini festival celebrating and showcasing new talent across a diverse range of fields. We've got theatre, film, music, cabaret and burlesque - all squeezed into a week. Each event is designed to encourage participation and allow creatives and audiences to try things out and take risks in an exciting, supportive and affordable environment. But above all, whatever event you come to, it'll be highly entertaining.

By the way, the name 'Theatre In The Pound' - The Cockpit Theatre is London's first purpose built theatre-in-the-round since The Great Fire in 1666. Implausable but true! (Source: Pevner 's Buildings of England) And it only cost a pound for a ticket. There you have it. The Cockpit is a flexible space and usually set up in thrust, rather than round. This layout can seat 180 people.

Playwriting, devising, improvising. Drama, dance, cabaret, puppetry, opera, physical theatre, poetry, musical theatre, mime, storytelling, and pretty much any other live performance discipline... (no jugglers)
