About Me

cutlerybowl productions currently consists of Imogen Butler-Cole (Artistic Director) and Aurelie Bocquillon (Producer). Our main objective is to promote progressive theatre which will attract new audiences for, and proponents of, the arts. These may be young people, marginalised communities or those people who do not normally have access to theatre – either in the UK or abroad.

We believe that theatre is a primary tool in enhancing communication, confidence and imagination, especially when existing boundaries in theatre – whether they be literal physical boundaries between performer and spectator, or less tangible ones concerning language and norms of expression – are pushed to the tipping point. We aim to create theatre which acts as a meeting point between different art forms, giving music, visual art and the spoken word a prominent place within the performances we produce.

Imogen has recently graduated from a two year course in physical theatre at LISPA, and is now working on three exciting new projects. From September 08 she has been running and hosting THEWHATWORKS a weekly cabaret at Cosmobar in Clerkenwell (see top friends below); she is now beginning workshops on phase two of her Capoeira project (see blog seeking capoeiristas); and will be beginning a project with young people in schools in Hackney (inspired by Lennie James' open letter to young people carrying knives: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/jun/08/knifecrime.ukcrime) .

For more information on past productions, workshops and collaborations, please look at the blogs on this page. Photographs below are of productions Imogen worked on in India from 2004-6, as well as more recent performance projects.
