The collaboration between Salar Asid and Michel Banabila began in 2005.
Their recordings represent a cinematic mixture of dreamy violin-improvisations and experimental electronica.
Salar Asid was born in Erbil (Kurdistan).
He started to play the violin when he was about ten years old.
In 1988 he finished Cum Laude at the conservatory of Baghdad under the tuition of Ahmed Al Jawadi.
From 1986 until 1990 he played in the National Symphony Orchestra in Baghdad.
In 1993 he went to The Netherlands, where he got his master degree as professional violin teacher.
Since 1995 he plays in several Symphony Orchestras in Holland and performs as
soloist all over Europe but especially in Holland.
He also plays Kurdish folklore music on typical instruments as the kamanje
together with his brother Dr. Jalil Asid. Salar Asid released 3 cds so far.
Michel Banabila :
musician / producer, best known for his ' VoizNoiz 1 '.
His work shows a special interest in electronic manipulations of the human voice, and in composing / re-arranging musical elements with the use of sampled textual fragments.
Besides acoustic instruments , Banabila uses found objects, electronics, field recordings, shortwave /tv/ film recordings, vocoder-plugs, and self made instruments.
His recordings can often be discribed as cinematic and atmospheric.
Banabila has composed musical scores for numerous films, ..aries, video art, theatre plays and choreographies.
In 2000, Banabila produced Arhil , the critically acclaimed debut album from Moroccan singer Ali Bahia El Idrissi (Boudisque recordings).
On the same label Banabila released his 2 electronic dark-ambient works ; ' Spherics ', part 1 & 2.
In 2001 Banabila joined Holger Czukay 's internet collabs for the track '10 Steps to heaven' on the cd 'Linear city' (InsideOut Music).
In 2003 Banabila received the prestigious Dutch Edison Jazz Award for the cd ' VoizNoiz 3 ', with trumpet-player Eric Vloeimans (Challenge Records).
The track " Bicycle exotica " , originally composed for the theatre-play "Eiland" by Orkater , was self-released on "Hilarious expedition" , a limited edition of a 2cdr soundscape - album by Banabila.
