ROXING KAFE
, the latin rock revelation of 2005, originated in Bogotá in
1998 when singer / songwriter DANIEL JIMENEZ joined drummer ANDRES ZULUAGA to form their first band, Azul Profundo. Still in their teens, Daniel
and Andres gained the recognition of the local rock scene, achieved radio
air play, and were invited to perform live for the Colombian division of
MUCH MUSIC. A few years later, these two young musicians moved to Los
Angeles, California, to start what is now ROXING KAFE, a fusion of the rhythms
of their native Colombia and the rock sounds that always attracted them.
The band was completed with latin jazz player DAI TAKAHASHI (THE L.A. MAMBO
COMBO), and after just a few months of playing in the local scene was
nominated for the Best Latin Alternative band at the ORANGE COUNTY
MUSIC AWARDS. In 2005, the band signed a management and artist development
agreement with MUSA MUSIC GROUP, and with the support of company owner
LORENZO MONTERO and Producer EBIUT CERVANTES, the band finished their
debut album. The album was recorded between Los Angeles and Bogotá, in
some of the most legendary studios of both cities. For the project, the
band had the fortune of working with highly recognized musicians,
including ALEX ACUÃ’A, KIM HOTCHCROFT (MICHAEL JACKSON), URIAN
SARAMIENTO (ATERCIOPELADOS, LA PESTILENCIA, 1280 LAMAS, CUPURIA), ERIKA MUÑOZ (SIDESTEPPER), GUALBER RODRIGUEZ and DAMIAN BOZZIO (LOS GAITEROS DE SAN JACINTO, TOTO LA MOMPOSINA). ROXING KAFEs new album is an exquisite
combination of rock and rumba, with honest and heartfelt lyrics.
