Our granddaughter in California was turned down for a teaching job, Because she only had one yr. of Spanish. She got a job at a private school. She now teaches in Rancho Cucamonga , second grade.Had an interesting conversation with a lady of Hispanic origin last week. She told me that she planned to come down to St. Mary's and get a job in Admissions (where I work). When I pointed out that we didn't have any openings, she advised me that "soon" current employees  will have to be fired to hire bi-lingual employees. According to this lady, the Spanish-speaking people of the U S are going to demand that all public  facilities like hospitals, courthouses, etc. - be staffed by people  who read, speak and comprehend Spanish. We hear about the silent majority, but I think we are going to have to speak up or find ourselves a conquered country. That would be an interesting historical note - greatest land in the world conquered by Mexico without ever firing a shot! Think about it Petition to require citizenship to be eligible for social services in the United States . No amnesty and no free services for illegal immigrants. I the undersigned below, agree that we need to keep English as our primary language and those who live in our country need to learn ENGLISH, not make the US citizens conform to Spanish.

So then the question becomes WHY? Why is it that our elected officials will not address this problem with any real force? The answer is simple. It is political suicide to actually deal with the issue. Don’t believe me? The following video is a protest against city councilman Tim O’Hare, from Farmers Branch. Tim O’Hare wanted to restrict illegal immigrants through such measures as making it illegal for landlords to lease property to them; fining businesses that employ them; making English the city's official language; and halting funding for children of illegal immigrants to participate in Summer Fun shine and other youth programs. Those ideas, by council member Tim O'Hare, were borrowed from ordinances adopted by Hazelton, Pa., and under consideration by cities in California, Florida and elsewhere. Mayor Pro Tem Ben Robinson had more ideas. He suggested that the council also consider prohibiting the assembly of day laborers; requiring contractors to abide by all federal laws, including immigration laws; and having police who question the residency papers of people they encounter on traffic stops or accidents make copies of those documents and submit them to immigration officials. So basically he wanted the laws to be enforced and this is the kind of criticism that he fell into. Their constituents had plenty to say in a work session marked by heckling and interruptions by both sides. Many opponents cried "racism".You notice that we placed this particular section in the hero’s list of this page. WE NEED MORE PEPOPLE LIKE TIM OHARE!!!!! Here are just a few other suggetions. 1) Fine and/or jail employers who hire illegal immigrants2) Fine and/or jail landlords who rent to illegal immigrants3) Fine and/or jail AND deportation for illegal immigrants caught in local municipality4) Routine inspection of day labor camps to insure that only US citizens use them5) English as the official language of the city--even if this means joining a national legal fight to insure its legal status6) Impounding of vehicle driven by illegal immigrant7) Impounding and sale of vehicle driven by illegal immigrant without drivers license and insurance.
