"Sounds like Rise Against, Propagandhi. New Pokerface is definitely a band with potential.
We're looking forward to their full-length CD..." - Up Magazine
Formed in 2006, New Pokerface; Tim Klaassen (guitar & vocals), Erik Hermeler (bass & vocals) and drummer Thomas Frankhuijzen, decided to make fast, powerful but yet melodic punkrock.
Writing good lyrics should be just as important as writing good music. The band wanted to spread a message; to bring out the best in you, without depending on other peoples, about breaking boundaries that keep you down.
Soon the band decided it was time to bring their music out to the people.
They joined forces with Split Second Sound (Textures, Malkovich, a.o.) and their debut EP 'Act The Animal' saw daylight at the end of 2006.
'Act The Animal' got positive reviews in different magazines, like Up-Magazine, Roar Ezine and Live-XS.
Within two months the first printing was sold out and a second printing was necessary to meet demands.
"New Pokerface released a straight in your face punkrock record, but with an unique sound" - Live XS
During the first 6 months of 2007 over 30 shows where played, getting good reviews everywhere.
The band proved that they can meet expectations. It was clear the band is even more energetic live than on CD.
Along with more shows and good reviews came bigger shows.
New Pokerface shared the stage with bands like The Undeclinables, The Levellers and Peter Pan Speedrock.
"We dare to state, New Pokerface is the new punkrock-promise from Holland. Therefore we predict it won't be the last time they play at the
Breda Barst festival." - Breda Barst
Besides playing more shows for the rest of 2007 New Pokerface is working on their new
material for their full-length debut, expected early 2008.
As a three piece band, New Pokerface plays simple but powerful music, which will grab you by the throat and won't let go.
